Neiguan town

Neiguan town is located in the northeast of Lianping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, adjacent to Heping County in the East, Youxi town and Gaoguan town in the south, Yuanshan town in the West and Shangping town in the north. The total area of the town is 230.81 square kilometers (2017), including 19800 square kilometers of mountainous area and 786.33 square kilometers of common cultivated land. It has 11 administrative villages and a total population of 13005 people (2017). Xuzhen is 11 kilometers away from the county seat, with convenient transportation. National Highway 105 passes through the town, and Dajiu line runs through eight villages in the town. The roads leading to all administrative villages have been hard bottomed.

Historical evolution

Neiguan was founded in 1913. It is called Neiguan because it is surrounded by mountains and forms a long and narrow basin, which is shaped like Guandong. From the founding of the people's Republic of China to 1961, it belonged to Huihua commune. Neiguan commune, established in 1959, was changed into Neiguan District in 1983. In 1987, the district was withdrawn to build a township. In 1993, it was changed into Neiguan town. In September 2003, the original Jiulian town was merged into Neiguan town. Neiguan is an old revolutionary base area. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Neiguan was the main revolutionary base of Lianping and peace. The headquarters of the third detachment of Dongjiang column of Guangdong People's Anti Japanese guerrillas was located in hualuodun Gongwu of the town.

It governs 11 villages with a total population of 13005 people (in 2017). The transportation is convenient. Weizhen is 11km away from the county seat. National Highway 105 passes through the town. Dajiu line runs through eight villages in the town. The road from Weizhen to administrative villages is basically hard bottomed. The communication in each village is programmed, and there are 1200 telephone users in the whole town. Neiguan town is an old revolutionary base area. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was the main revolutionary base of Lianping and peace. The headquarters of the third detachment of Dongjiang column of Guangdong People's Anti Japanese guerrillas was located in Gongwu, hualuodun town. The economy of Neiguan town is dominated by agriculture and forestry, of which about two-thirds are agriculture oriented and one-third are forestry oriented. The timber reserves are about 400000 cubic meters, and 15000 cubic meters of timber and 10000 moso bamboo are sold to the state every year. Plum, plum, Shatang orange, chestnut and other fruit planting area of more than 5000 mu. Rich in tea, mushrooms, fungus, bamboo shoots, rosin, camphor oil, honey, peas and so on. there are famous sawbankeng tungsten mine and Neiguan cement plant. As the town is rich in water resources, and has a unique terrain of "big drop", it is very advantageous to develop hydropower stations. There are 11 hydropower stations in the town, with a total installed capacity of nearly 4000 kW. there are 2 junior middle schools and 11 primary schools with 2100 students in the town. There is one broadcasting station, one TV Turntable and one cable TV relay station. There are 1 health center and 11 health stations. Mass cultural life includes literary creation, photography, dragon dance, piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, etc. Cangyan, a famous scenic spot in Lianping county and even Heyuan City, is one of the eight scenic spots of Lianping in the old times. It is listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at the county level. A large number of tourists come here all the year round.
