Chayang Town, subordinate to Dapu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the north of Dapu County, bordering Yongding County, Fujian Province in the northeast, Changzhi and Qingxi in the west, Xihe in the southeast, huhuan and Sanhe in the south, covering an area of 214.81 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the total population of chayang town was 55619. As of October 2019, chayang town has jurisdiction over one community and 26 administrative villages.

In 2019, the general public budget revenue of chayang town will be 13.5059 million yuan, and the total industrial output value will be 65.1484 million yuan.

Historical evolution

In 413, chayang town was established as Yizhao county.

In the third year of Daye (607), Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, it was Wanchuan county.

In the fifth year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1526), Tai Po County was established here.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the county government is still in chayang.

In 1961, after the county government moved back to hucha, the ancient county seat, the county government site was the site of chayang commune.

In 1980, chayang town was established.

In December 1983, the commune was changed into a district, with chayang town and chayang district at the same level.

In the first half of 1985, the towns were merged and named chayang town.

Chayang town is located in the north of Dapu County, bordering Yongding County of Fujian Province in the northeast, Changzhi and Qingxi in the west, Xihe in the southeast, huhuan and Sanhe in the south, covering an area of 214.81 square kilometers.

Chayang town has a long and narrow terrain. Jiji mountain, 1000 meters above sea level, jianbilian, Shanlian, jiaoyishan, tianzizhai and gongluozhang (formerly known as fengbozhang) above 700 meters above sea level gather in the north, Bijia mountain and yangshifeng gather in the southwest, and Tingjiang River enters through Qingxi township.

The banks of Tingjiang River are relatively flat, but the low-lying areas are vulnerable to flood. Except for Taining (Xiaojing) which is a small basin, the rest are mostly valleys.

The Xiaojing River and the Ximen River (Zhangxi River) flow into the chayang dyke and flow southward into the Hanjiang River. Ximen River (Zhangxi River) and Xiaojing river flow into the town.

Chayang town is located in the lower reaches of Tingjiang River, the north of Dapu County, and the junction of three counties and twelve towns in Guangdong and Fujian provinces. It is one of the three central towns in the county. The street has convenient land and water transportation. Tingjiang River, Xiaojing River and Zhangxi River meet at SHIZIKOU and flow into Sanhe River, the source of Hanjiang River, through Tingjiang River. The provincial highway Cha line and Bai line run through the whole town. The Meikan railway has a freight station in chayang, which is the transportation hub of Longting and Chaoshan.

The origin of place names

"Qing Tong Zhi" records: "tea Yang, Tai Po County trip on it." In the Ming Dynasty, the county was built in the south of the tea mountain, which is full of tea trees, so it was named chayang.

According to Fang Yu minutes, in 1284, there were overseas Chinese who built a city and gathered at the foot of the tea mountain. Later, Zhang Baimei also lived here. In 1523, the uprising of Zhang Baimei was suppressed.
