Baihou Town, subordinate to Dapu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east of Dapu County, with huliao in the west, Dadong and Shuangxi in the East, Yanshang in the north, huliao in the West and Pingyuan and fenglang in the south. The total area is 110.24 square kilometers, and the registered residence population was 30017 in 2018. As of June 2020, Baihou town has 14 administrative villages and 1 community.
Baihou town is known as "the hometown of culture, overseas Chinese and cadres". In 2010, it was awarded the honorary title of the fifth batch of "famous historical and cultural towns in China" by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and the State Administration of cultural relics. On December 30, 2019, Baihou town was selected as one of the first batch of "tourism towns in Guangdong Province". Baihou is also one of the ideological and theoretical practice bases of Tao Xingzhi's "life education", known as "Xiaozhuang in the north and Baihou in the South".

Historical evolution
Baihou was originally named Baihou, which can be seen in the stone carvings of Song Dynasty near the Shuikou of caixianren town in jiuzhaili village.
According to the county annals of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the inspection department was originally set up in Dachang (today's Dadong), and later moved here.
During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Yang Zhixu, a local Jinshi, proposed to change "Baihou" to "Baihou", which means "Baihou governs the land and confers hundreds of marquis". In the early years of the Republic of China, the name of "Baihou" was officially adopted.
During the period of the Republic of China, Baihou district and Meihe district were successively set up here. The former includes today's Baihou District, Dadong District, fenglang district and Shuangxi district.
In 1952, fenglang and Shuangxi set up another Shiyun district.
In 1957, dadongxiang was separated.
In 1958, dadongxiang merged with renbaihou commune;.
In 1961, Dadong commune was established. So far, the Marquis established his own society and district.

The origin of the name
It is said that in ancient times, there was a smoke mound in the old village and on the top of mashanding for exchanging information between soldiers and defense to give an alarm, which was called "Hou". It was built with white stone and clay (porcelain clay), so it was called "Baihou" and later became a place name. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Yang Zhixu, a local Jinshi, proposed to change "Baihou" to "Baihou", which means "Baihou governs the land and confers hundreds of marquis". In the early years of the Republic of China, the name of "Baihou" was officially adopted.

Hometown of culture
Baihou is known as the "hometown of culture", and there are many talented people. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were five Hanlin, 24 Jinshi and 134 Juren from the Baihou. The Hanlin included Xiao chenjie in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the brothers of Yang zanxu, Yang Mian and Yang Yan, and Zhang Ao in the Jiaqing period. The Jinshi included Xiao aocai, Yang Zhixu and Zhang Shuxun, the first Jinshi in eastern Guangdong after entering the Qing Dynasty.
Three Hanlin in one belly
One belly three Hanlin refers to the three sons of Yang Zhixu, a gentry in Baihou town. The five sons Yang zanxu, the six sons Yang minshi and the seven sons Yang Yanshi passed the imperial examinations in the 60th year of Kangxi (1721), the first year of Qianlong (1736) and the 10th year of Qianlong (1745). They were all appointed as Hanlin.

On dafudi
Tongyi dafudi is the former residence of Yang zuanxi, the governor of Shaanxi Province during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. It is a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. It is a Hakka compound with nine halls and eighteen wells. Tongyi dafudi is a three Hall and four horizontal rooms. In the upper hall, there is a plaque of "seven leaf Yanxiang" given by Emperor Qianlong to Mrs. Yang zanxu's LAN family, praising him for respecting the old and loving the young, and meeting his ancestors, father, great grandson and great grandson.
Zhaoqingtang
Zhaoqingtang, a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong, was built in 1917 by Yang Yinyuan, the third son of Yang Jingxiu, a native of Hounan village. High quality stone and wood were selected for building, and skilled craftsmen from all over the world were invited to build, carve and paint. When building western style buildings, foreigners were specially hired to supervise the construction, which took three years to complete. The main hall's horizontal plaque "Zhaoqing hall" was written by former Kuomintang General Zhang Fakui, while the lower Hall's horizontal plaque "Ren Deng Shou Yu" was written by the famous person Chen Jiongming of the Republic of China.
Honorary title
In 2010, it was awarded the honorary title of the fifth batch of "famous historical and cultural towns in China" by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and the State Administration of cultural relics.
