Lengkeng town

Lengkeng town is located in the northwest of HUAIJI County, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, 23 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Lianmai Town, Huaicheng street and Zhongzhou town in the East, Maling town and Lanzhong town in the west, Lianliang town in the south, Xiashuai Township and shangshuai town in Lianshan County in the north. The town has 32 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee and 147 villager groups. The town covers an area of 193.2 square kilometers, with 3694.6 hectares of cultivated land, including 2913.2 hectares of paddy field and 781.4 hectares of dry land. At the end of 2016, the total population of the town was 143000, including 139000 agricultural population, which is the largest agricultural population town in HUAIJI County.

On July 21, 2014, Lengkeng town was selected into the list of "national key towns".

On September 30, 2019, Lengkeng town (vegetable) was selected into the provincial "one village, one product, one town, one industry" professional town list.

Evolution of organizational system

According to the county annals, the section of water flowing from Lanma River to Maling River is as clear and cold as the water in Shankeng, so it is named "Lengkeng".

In 1956, Lengkeng town took charge of the maning area, and HUAIJI "lengma district" was established. Lengkeng, Ailian, Shuikou, Longgang, Guantang and other townships were established.

In 1958, maning was formally incorporated into Lengkeng and was under the jurisdiction of Lengkeng area, and was renamed "people's commune of Lengkeng area".

In 1972, after the administrative adjustment of HUAIJI County, the "people's commune of lengma area" was restructured to establish "maning people's commune" and "Lengkeng people's commune" respectively.

In 1983, Lengkeng people's commune was renamed Lengkeng district.

In 1987, Lengkeng district was removed from the district and built into a town.
