Yanmen town

Yanmen town is located 8 kilometers northwest of Mayang Miao Autonomous County in Hunan Province, adjacent to Gaocun Township in the East, Lan village, Longjiabao and tanjiazhai Township in the southwest, and shiyangshao, chestnut tree and gudapo Township in the northwest. There are small plains along both sides of the stream, and hills and mountains in the northeast. The main grain crops in the town are rice, and the main economic crops are citrus, vegetables and watermelon. The citrus planting area of the whole town has reached 20000 mu, with an annual output of more than 30000 tons, of which the production of rock sugar orange is more than 12000 tons, becoming the famous hometown of rock sugar orange in the whole county and even the whole country; the planting area of melons, fruits, vegetables and flowers is more than 3000 mu; in 2007, the poultry breeding of the whole town reached 100000. The town has basically formed three pillar industries of citrus, melons and vegetables, and livestock breeding. The main road from Mayang to Fenghuang (National Highway 209) passes through the town. At the same time, it is the branch intersection between the county and several towns in the southwest of the county and fengma highway. The village highway network is sound, and all villages in the town have been connected with highways.

Historical evolution

The town has a long history. According to relevant records, there were county officials and city walls in song, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Before liberation, it was the residence of puppet district government and puppet township government. After liberation, it was the seat of the Third District People's government and the Township People's government. In 1958, it was the residence of the commune. In 1983, it was restored to the Township People's government. In December 1985, it was established. The town covers an area of 0.8 square kilometers.

It has won many awards in the fruit evaluation of Hunan Province, especially the samples of Bingtang orange which won the gold medal in the Provincial Agricultural Expo from 2001 to 2004. The citrus planting area of the town is more than 22000 mu, with a total output of more than 30000 tons, of which the output of Bingtang orange is more than 12000 tons. Its products sell well in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming and other large and medium-sized cities in China, Hong Kong and Macao, and are exported to Russia, Mongolia and Vietnam. In recent years, after the improvement of citrus varieties, purification and rejuvenation in the whole town, Yanmen citrus has become purer in quality, better in taste, larger in shape and fresher in color. It has a fixed consumption group in Beijing, Northeast China, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities, forming a stable sales market and occupying an increasing market share. Gift watermelon planting area of more than 200 mu, the main varieties are hongxiaoyu, huangxiaoyu, the annual output of 560 tons. In 2002, the county agricultural office took the lead in investing 800000 yuan to build a centralized vegetable greenhouse covering an area of 48 mu in Pingyuan village.
