Huangxikou town

Huangxikou town is located in the southeast of Chenxi County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province, on the edge of Yuanjiang River. It has 13 administrative villages, 1 community neighborhood committee and 29865 people (2017). The town has a long history of Yao culture, one of the top ten ancient towns in Western Hunan. There are Jiefang Fengyu bridge, Panwang hall and other ancient buildings, Yao tea mountain chant is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage, Yao culture is full of characteristics, folk arts such as singing folk songs, double suona, Dragon Boat drum, Bawang whip are popular. It has an ecological and comfortable living environment.

Chenxi County governs the town. Huangxikou town was established in 1953, changed to Huangxikou Township in 1956, established Huangxikou commune in 1958, and changed to Huangxikou town in 1984. It is located in the southeast of the county, 72 kilometers away from the county, covering an area of 61.09 square kilometers (2017), with a population of 29865 (2017), including 5000 Yao people. The town government is located in Huangxikou. There are County Road and 1807 provincial road connected, west of the Yuan River, land and water transportation is convenient. It has jurisdiction over Huangxikou neighborhood committee and 12 village committees including Laojie, Luoxin, Shuanglong, cormorant, Yeyu, Shuangxi, Tangyan, Dawan, Furong, heijiaxi, maojiatian and otter. For the oil tea forest base, the mineral resources are placer gold and diamond. Rice is the main agricultural product. The town government is the largest market in the county.
