Xiamadu town is located in the northeast of Qiyang City, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, 4 kilometers away from Qiyang city. The town government is located in Dahutang neighborhood committee. The town still uses the name of xiamadu bridge. It is said that Yue Fei, a famous general of the Southern Song Dynasty who fought against the Jin Dynasty, got his name by crossing the Qishui river with his army.

Xiamadu town is located in the northeast of Qiyang City, bordering Qidong County in the East, Wuxi town in the west, Lijiaping town and Wenfu town in the north and Qiliqiao town in the south.

The town government in Dahutang neighborhood committee has jurisdiction over Chengyue, zishanchong, niulantou, zhaojiaao, shimenqian, shuichong, Shiwan, meiziping, luojialing, Shanchuan, shangchiwan, xiachiwan, Nongke, fuxingchong, zhuzhuao, Yayuan, Baiji, shitangchong, liujialing, gaoziling, niaotichong, Qingshuitang, baibuling, simayuan, Jiangxi bridge, Daqiao Bay, zilishan and yuanjiamiao 55 villages including liangjiawan, dongxiyuan, qiaotoujiang, Zhongdudian, shihetang, Tuanshan, otang, quantang, hujiatai, Lishan, pond, Yangmingshan, hujialing, fenglinpu, hengchong, huangmaochong, shujiapu, Yuetang, tanjiawan, Qishan, xiangmuchong, Tangjialing, guantangwan, DAMAOPING, jishantang, xijiaping, nijingjiang and 2 neighborhood committees including Dahutang and liuhetang.

Historical evolution

The town still uses the name of xiamadu bridge. It is said that Yue Fei, a famous general of the Southern Song Dynasty who fought against the Jin Dynasty, got his name from his army. In 1660, Seng Xiulin raised money to build a five hole stone arch bridge, which was called the Madu bridge. In 1949, Tongwen township was under its jurisdiction; in 1950, when it was divided into districts and established townships, it belonged to the 13th District, with a total of 13 townships; in 1952, when the administrative division was adjusted, xiamadu was the eighth District, with a total of 26 townships; in 1958, xiamadu people's commune was established when the people's commune was transformed into a people's commune; in 1961, the system of xiamadu district was restored, and xiamadu district was established; in 1984, the commune was changed into a township; in January 1985, Chitang Township and Taibaishan Township were abolished and merged into a new township Xiamadu Town: in June 1995, when the district was withdrawn and the township was built, the three townships and one town of Daqiao Bay, muguantou, yunpanting and xiamadu were merged into xiamadu town.

Area finance

The total area of the town is 125.3 square kilometers (2017), with 2426 hectares of arable land and 42680 people (2017). Qiling highway runs through the East and West in the territory, which is a fast throat road leading to Qidong and Hengyang. The town is not only a grain production base, but also an important production area of trees and oranges. The precious and rare medicinal material Wumei enjoys a high reputation in the whole country. The annual gross output value of the town is 64.117 million yuan, and the annual financial revenue is 2.705 million yuan.

Industrial Development

There are iron oxide red factory, shale brick factory, bamboo and wood processing factory. There are 2 middle schools, 19 primary schools and 5 medical institutions. There are Taibai peak, the highest peak of the Qishan mountains, and the famous xiongpi mountain, Yunxian temple, Dahua mountain, etc. it is a tourist destination for literati and ink men of all ages. After visiting the Qishan mountains, celebrities such as Fu ruojin of the Yuan Dynasty, Xu Wenheng of the Ming Dynasty, Chen Jizu of the Qing Dynasty, Wan Zaiheng, zongjichen, Wu zeliang left immortal poems such as "climbing xiongpi mountain" and "visiting Qishan mountain". Qiyang TV station stands on the top of Dahua mountain, and the road is circling up. Every spring, when the flowers are blooming, the mountain is full of red reflections, which makes spring tourists forget to return. At the foot of Dahua mountain are buried the loyal bones of Jiang Yuhua, the martyr of the great revolution, and yingpanting, the camp of the Yue army led by Yue Fei, a famous general of the Southern Song Dynasty. The shiliuxian temple on xiongpi mountain, the Huangye hall and the Yunxian temple at the juncture of peace and harmony are full of incense.
