Husi Street

Husi street is located in the southeast of Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, at the border of Jiangxia, Daye and Xianning. It is bounded by Gaohe village, Jinniu Town, Daye City in the East, Shuangxi town and heshengqiao town in Xianning City in the south, Hezhan community and Baofu community in shanpo street in the west, Liangzi Lake in the north and Shu'an street in the north.

Husi Street covers an area of 84.7km2, with a population of 29209 (at the end of 2011), and governs one community and 24 villages.

Historical evolution

Husi street was originally named Husi bridge. According to Jiangxia county annals, "in the early years, there was Dagou lake directly to zhentou, and wooden boats could lead to the Yangtze River through Liangzi Lake. There were four bridges in the town, and the lake water under the bridge often flowed like Si". Husi Bridge got its name from this. Later called Husi, it is still used today. After liberation, the Fifth District Office of Wuchang county was established in 1949, which governed six townships and one town. In 1958, the satellite people's commune was established, which governed husiji town and six administrative districts. In 1960, Husi district was restored. In 1971, Shuan commune and Fenshui commune were set up, which was still called Husi commune.
