The labor Street office was established in 1952, and now has seven functional departments, namely, the party and government office, the party masses work section, the urban management section, the social affairs section, the family planning management section, the economic coordination management section, and the comprehensive management office. Laodong street has a total area of 2.84 square kilometers, starting from Jiefang Avenue in the East, Jianshe Avenue in the west, Stadium Road in the South and Huangpu Avenue in the north. It has a permanent population of 78000, 24541 households and 15 communities. It is only 800 meters away from Hankou beach. On December 20, 1999, the Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Macao.
