Hongen Township

Hongen township is located in the southeast of Zhecheng County, on the North Bank of Huiji river. It is bounded by Taipinggou in Qitai town in the East, Luyi County in the South and chenqingji Township in the west, covering an area of 34 square kilometers and 38558 mu of cultivated land.

Historical evolution

Hongen township was set up in 1949, belonging to Qitai district. In 1977, part of Chenji commune was designated to build Hongen commune. In 1984, it was transformed into Hongen township. In 1997, it covered an area of 34 square kilometers and had a population of 27000.

Hongen township has 16 administrative villages and 69 natural villages, including Hongen village, Qida village, Zhongyang village, liumiao village, Hudian village, Jiazhuang village, lvzhuang village, Weizhuang village, Lilou village, guocao village, Renzhuang Village, Guolou village, Mingtai village, Shihuang village, Baiqiao village and Tianlou village.

Economics

Zhecheng County, one of the cotton producing areas, crops are wheat, peanut, soybean, sorghum, tobacco and so on. It is rich in persimmon, plum, apple, wuweigong pear and watermelon.

Cultural tourism

Mazhuang suona in December 2007, Mazhuang village was awarded "characteristic cultural village of Henan Province" by Henan Provincial Department of culture, and was approved as "characteristic cultural industry village" by the provincial government in 2008. In October 2016, it was listed as the national key rural tourism poverty alleviation village by nine ministries and commissions including the National Tourism Administration.

Minghuangtai temple is located in Mingtai village, one of the "seven platforms and eight sceneries" in Zhecheng county,

"Wuwei Gongguo" pear garden is located in Hongen village, Hongen township. Every spring, pear blossoms are in full bloom, like snowflakes all over the sky. Since the spring of 2017, Hongen township government has jointly held the pear blossom festival here with the county government and the county radio, television and Tourism Bureau.
