Wangping Township

Wangping township is a small mountain village located at the foot of Jiguan mountain and on the Bank of Malan River.

Wangping is located in the south of Ruyang County, Luoyang City, with Lushan in the South and Ruzhou in the East, covering an area of 162 square kilometers. Jiguan mountain, 1602.4 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in Ruyang County; Malan River runs through the whole territory, flows into Ruhe River in the north, dangze river flows out of the county in the East and into Lushan County, and Yilu road runs through the north and south.

It was the Fourth District in 1950. Wangping township was set up in 1958, and then it was changed into a commune. In 1984, the township was restored. In 1997, it covers an area of 158.6 square kilometers and has a population of 12000. It governs 12 administrative villages including Wangping, Lianghe, Mengcun, jiaogou, Hecun, Donggou, Xiangdi, Dazhuang, Baofeng, Gushi, Liushu and nieping.

Wangping is a township in the deep mountain area, with more than 200 peaks, tall and straight, with an average altitude of 981 meters, belonging to the outer mountain range of Funiu Mountain system. Wangping is well protected with a large area of virgin forest, with a forest coverage rate of more than 82%. It is known as a natural oxygen bar. "The mountains are full of wonders, and the forests are dense and quiet.". In recent years, Jiguanshan, Hupan and shenxianyao scenic spots have been planned and developed. At present, xiaoyaogu scenic area, the first phase of Malan Canyon Scenic Area Project invested by Henan Xinhai transportation and Tourism Co., Ltd., is under construction.

Wangping is rich in resources. There are dozens of mineral resources such as lead, zinc, molybdenum, copper, iron and coal. At present, there are more than 20 lead-zinc mining and dressing enterprises and one copper mining and dressing enterprise, with an annual tax payment of more than 2 million yuan. There are many kinds of wild animals and plants. There are more than ten kinds and 200 kinds of plants. Among them, traditional Chinese medicine resources are the most abundant, mainly including Eucommia ulmoides Oliv., Gastrodia elata, Platycodon grandiflorum, blood ginseng, Cornus officinalis, Forsythia suspensa, etc. there are dozens of wild animals, such as giant salamander, wild boar, antelope, Swertia deer, civet, etc.

Infrastructure

Public infrastructure is complete, and people's living conditions have improved significantly. In 2006, the township achieved the goal of cement access to every village. Since 2000, more than 30 draught projects have been built, which has solved the drinking water difficulties of nearly 3000 people in the township and ensured the drinking water safety of the people. With the implementation of the ecological home project, there are more than 200 biogas users in the township, and the rural environment has been improved.
