Xinjiang Township

Xinjiang Township, subordinate to Suichuan County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the north of Suichuan County, adjacent to Jinggangshan City in the northwest, Taihe County in the north, Shuangqiao Township in the East, Yaqian town in the South and wudoujiang Township in the West. The township government is 60 kilometers away from the county seat and 31 kilometers away from Xiaping, the new urban area of Jinggangshan. The total land area of the township is 188 square kilometers, with 11 administrative villages and 91 villagers' groups. The registered residence population in 2018 is 11 thousand and 600.

Xinjiang Township belongs to hilly landforms, with lush mountains, lush forests and unique natural landscape. The Red Army cave in Hengshi village has a dangerous terrain and many scenic spots such as a line of sky and Red Army well. Shikeng ancient village has a long history and culture. There is a famous group of Phoebe in China. The specimens of Phoebe from the Chinese Academy of sciences are taken from this village, which has high tourism development value.

History of construction

Xinjiang township is named after its residence. Before liberation, it belonged to a small part of Xinjiang Township and Xikou Township. After liberation, it belonged to Xinjiang Township, Dawang Township and Hengshi Township in Yaqian district.

In 1954, Yaqian district was renamed the seventh district.

In 1956, the seventh district was abolished and Xinjiang Township, Dawang Township and Hengshi Township were merged into Xinjiang township.

In 1958, Xinjiang people's commune was established.

In 1960, Xinjiang commune and Shuangqiao commune were merged into Yaqian commune.

In 1961, Yaqian district was reset and the three communities were separated.

In 1964, it was renamed Xinjiang district.

In 1967, Xinjiang district was abolished and still called Xinjiang commune.

In May 1984, the government and society were separated and called Xinjiang township.

Xinjiang township is the starting point of the sixth Red Army. On August 7, 1934, under the leadership of Ren Bishi, Xiao Ke, Wang Zhen and other generals, 9758 members of the sixth red army began their westward expedition from Hengshi village in Xinjiang township.

Thin strip of sky

Yixiantian is located in Hengshi village, Xinjiang township. The landform belongs to Danxia landform. It is a high mountain gorge with a depth of about 200 meters. There is a fissure gorge belt in the middle of the mountain, about 300 meters long, which only allows one person to pass by. Climbing up along the slit can reach the top of the mountain. Shikeng Village

Shikeng village is located in the north of Suichuan, 5 kilometers away from Xinjiang Township and 70 kilometers away from the county seat. The village is a large forestry village with the largest Phoebe group in the whole province and even in the whole country, and its ecological environment is unique.
