Meijiang town is located in the east of Suichuan County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. Gexianyan, the holy land of Taoism

Gexianyan is located in Yuanling village, Meijiang Town, about 5km away from Suichuan connecting line of Daguang Expressway in the East. During the reign of shengshengping (357-361), Ge Hong (a pharmacist and Taoist theorist of Jin Dynasty) traveled here. Seeing the deep and quiet stone chamber, he built a well here to make alchemy. There are tongyanmen, wangtiantai, xiyaoquan, shirushu, Qiju wok and other relics. From 1995 to 2003, eight Taoist temples including the ancient palace of King Kang were rebuilt. Outside the cave, there are trees and beautiful scenery.

New situation

On July 30, 2016, Meijiang Township, Suichuan, Ji'an, was approved to withdraw the township and establish a town. With the approval of the provincial people's government, it is agreed to abolish Meijiang township of Suichuan County and establish Meijiang town of Suichuan County. The newly established administrative area of Meijiang town remains unchanged, and the town government is stationed in the current township government.
