Shuangta town is an administrative town in Shangqiu City, Henan Province. It is located in the most western part of Minquan county at the junction of three counties and two cities. It is adjacent to Qi County in the southwest and Lankao County in the West and North. It is named after the twin towers built in the territory (in memory of Song Yang and Song Qi, two famous writers and historians in the Northern Song Dynasty). Located in the eastern plain of Henan Province, the territory is flat. National Highway 310 and Lianhuo Expressway pass through the territory, and Longhai Railway and Zhengzhou Xuzhou high speed railway run through the north of the territory. The town governs 28 administrative villages.

Shuangta town is sandy soil, which is the largest of the five sand systems in Minquan county. The climate is temperate monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 13 ℃. The average annual rainfall is 575mm.

Historical evolution

According to historical records, in the second year of Tiansheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1024), song Xiang and Song Qi were the same Jinshi of Jiake. In 1941, it was subordinate to the Mapo district committee of Minquan county. In 1948, the Second District of Kewei county was changed to Mapo township. In 1956, Shuangta township of Mapo township was merged to form Shuangta township. In 1958, Shuangta commune was established and the township was changed in 1983. In 1997, with an area of 70 square kilometers and a population of 30000, it has jurisdiction over 22 administrative villages, including dengzhaidong, dengzhaixi, Xinzhuang, niumugang, Xiaogang, Dashanzi, Mopo, Shiwa, Zhangzhuang, dinghutong, Changzhuang, baheya, Guotang, wawuying, tangzhai, wangmafang, shuangtaji, Guandi temple, DACAO, zhuozhai, Fanlou and Chentang. In January 2016, with the approval of the people's Government of Henan Province, Shuangta township was abolished and Shuangta town was established to implement the system of town governing village.
