Historical evolution

On the eve of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belongs to Dongjiang township.

In 1950, it was established as the fourth district resident.

In 1958, Gaofeng commune was established and renamed Huitong commune.

In November 1961, Huitong people's commune was in the suburb of the city.

In October 1972, Huitong commune was restored.

In June 1984, it was changed into a fellow countryman.

Among them, there is a 10000 mu navel orange base in xiejiafang village, and there are more than 2300 navel orange growers in the township. The pillar industries include navel orange, live pig, yellow chicken, watermelon, white lotus and organic vegetable. Since 2002, Huitong township has been listed as a key township for the development of navel orange industry in the county, with special preferential policies. Since 2002, more than 16000 mu of navel orange has been developed in the township. In 2004, there was a 3000 mu high-quality navel orange garden.
