Hengzhai Township

Hengzhai Township, under the jurisdiction of Nankang District, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southwest of Nankang District, in the middle of KangChi highway, 5 kilometers away from the city. The total area of the township is 26.60 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 20891 people registered residence in Heng Zhai township. As of June 2020, hengzhai township has jurisdiction over one community and eight administrative villages.

The landform of hengzhai township is mainly mountainous and hilly, with a total cultivated area of 8410 Mu and a per capita cultivated area of 0.5 mu. Hengzhai reservoir is the largest small reservoir in Nankang District, with a maximum capacity of 5.4 million cubic meters, a total length of 23.5 kilometers and a designed irrigation area of 12000 mu.

In 2018, there were 99 industrial enterprises in hengzhai Township, including 15 industrial enterprises above Designated Size and 39 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

The name of hengzhai reservoir is changed.

At the beginning of the liberation of new China, it belonged to Leping Township, Zhufang district.

At the time of co-operation, it was a high-level community in Leping township of Zhufang, including Huqiao, Xiaohe, Changtang, zhaikeng, etc.

In 1958, it belonged to Liantang and Xianfeng communes.

In 1961, it belonged to Huqiao and Leping communes.

In 1965, it was merged into Huqiao commune.

In 1968, it was incorporated into the Chitu commune.

In 1972, Changtang commune was set up from Chitu commune.

In 1997, hengzhai Township governed 11 administrative villages, including Changtang, Yetang, zhaikeng, Jingbei, Xiaohe, Tiandong, xipi, Huangtian, caoqiu, Santang and Zhaili. The township government was stationed in huangtianwei.

By June 2020, hengzhai township has jurisdiction over one community and eight administrative villages: Huqiao community, Huangtian village, Santang village, Zhaili village, caoqiu village, Xiaohe village, Changtang village, Yetang village and zhaikeng village.
