Shangzhuang area

Shangzhuang area is a town (area) under the jurisdiction of Haidian District, Beijing. It is located in the northernmost part of the area. By the end of 2017, it had an area of 38.45 square kilometers and a population of 63973. It has jurisdiction over one community and 20 administrative villages. The office and town government are located in the south of Shangzhuang village. Ming Zhu Tomb of the Qing Dynasty, Tomb of Nalanxingde, ruins of Shuangta ancient city, and iron ox relics of Liao and Jin Dynasties are all in the territory.

Historical evolution

Baishuiwa township was established in March 1956. In 1961, Shangzhuang commune was established, which was integrated with Xijiao farm. In April 1984, the township was changed. In 1996, it covers an area of 39.8 square kilometers and has a population of 13000. It governs four administrative villages including dongmachang, Shangzhuang, baishuiwa, Qianzhang village and one neighborhood committee of Xijiao farm. In November 1998, Shangzhuang township was separated from Xijiao farm. In 2000, it was adjusted to 20 administrative villages including dongmafang, dongmafang, Changle, Shangzhuang, beiyuhe, xizha, Bajia, zaojiatun, dongxiaoying, luojiafen, yongtaizhuang, nanyuhe, lijiafun, meisuotun, Shuangta, Qianzhang, Houzhang, xixinlitun, Hebei and baishuiwa. At the end of 2002, the area was 38.5 square kilometers, registered residence of 20 thousand people, including 12 thousand and 500 agricultural population, 5 thousand and 600 floating population, 20 administrative villages, and township government stationed in Zhuang village. In 2003, Shangzhuang township was abolished and Shangzhuang town was established. In 2008, it has jurisdiction over one community and 20 administrative villages. in November 2011, Shangzhuang town officially set up a regional office.
