Buddhist culture

Shanhou town is located in the northwest of Hexian county. There are many historical sites in Shanhou Town: Liu Bang, the founder of Han Dynasty, and Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of Ming Dynasty, once stationed troops and fought here. Moreover, there are many temples and strong Buddhist culture. With the reputation of "Jiangbei xiaojiuhua", Jilong mountain is located in the town, which has been turned into a national forest park. Wanyuan temple is located in Wanyuan village, about 3 kilometers southwest of the town. It faces south from the north. It has a quadrangle architecture style. There are two ancient trees in the temple: one is Osmanthus fragrans tree, which is 100 years old and has a huge crown; the other is tickle tree, whose trunk is withered and will be green in spring. Visitors help it, and its body trembles like tickle, which is very strange. In 2011, Wanyuan temple was listed as a key project for the construction of the Buddhist culture base in the town. Shuangshan temple is located at the foot of Shuangshan mountain, about 5 kilometers southwest of the town, where there are beautiful legends.

Ape Man Site

Hexian ape man site is located in Taodian. In the winter of 1973, local farmers found a large number of vertebrate fossils buried in Longtan cave when they were building water conservancy projects. The Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, together with provincial and county archaeologists, excavated a complete skull of ape man on November 4, 1980. The discovery of the fossil ape man in Hexian County shocked the world. Experts and scholars from Japan, Australia, the United States, Denmark and other countries came to investigate it several times. The Hexian ape man and the Beijing ape man were included in the history textbook.

Canals crisscross

Shanhou town is rich in water resources, many ditches and dams, especially in the north, which is a natural place for fishing. Thousands of acres of fish pond, a wide variety of fish, tender meat, fat, fishing enthusiasts is the ideal fishing center.
