General situation
The town covers an area of 217.13 square kilometers (2017), with a population of 38267 (2017), 19 village committees and one neighborhood committee. The town Party committee has 11 general Party branches, 32 party branches and 1492 party members. Hewan Town, located in the west of Nanling County, is one of the five central towns in the county. It is adjacent to Gongshan Town, Sanli town and Yandun town of Nanling County in the East, Yi'an district (county) of Tongling City in the northwest, and Qingyang County in the southwest. The town covers an area of 217.13 square kilometers (2017), with 38267 people (2017), 19 village committees and one neighborhood committee. There is a provincial-level scenic spot in this area, namely, the stone forest of the flower sea in Ya mountain. This town is a famous production base of traditional Chinese medicine. Its products have won the gold award of Nanyang Industry Association, Panama, and national geographical indication certification. It is the trading and distribution center of traditional Chinese medicine in Chizhou, Tongling, and Wuhu.
In order to adapt to the needs of the new situation, the town Party committee and government put forward the grand goal of establishing the town ecologically and vigorously developing the circular economy, so as to build Nanling into an important ecological town.

evolution
Qingfen belonged to Zhixin Township and Jinde Township, and Xixiang in 1910. Hewan township was established in 1939, belonging to Daihui district. At the beginning of liberation, jianhewan, Jianxi, Hecun, Shanxi and shunchong administrative villages belonged to Daihui district. In February 1950, the township was abandoned and the administrative village remained unchanged, belonging to the third district. Hewan, Hecun, Jianxi and shunchong townships were established in July 1952. In January 1956, Hewan, Hecun and Jianxi townships were merged. In February 1957, Hewan and Hecun townships were merged. Why Bay commune was merged in October 1958. In 1961, the area was narrowed down and still called Hewan commune. In April 1983, it was changed to Hewan Township, which belongs to Hewan district. In 1992, it was a township under the jurisdiction of the county. In 1996, it covers an area of 86.9 square kilometers and has a population of 21000. It governs nine administrative villages, namely Jiantan, Hewan, shunchong, Dongcun, Qianguan, Jianxi, Qianqiao, Chengxiang and Hecun. The original Yashan town is located in the southwest of Nanling County. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Jinde Township and Xixiang Township in 1910. In 1939, it belonged to Hewan township. At the beginning of liberation, jianyashan, Huilong and Nanshan administrative villages belonged to Hewan township. In February 1950, the township was abandoned and the administrative village remained unchanged, belonging to the third district. Two townships, Yashan and Huilong, were set up in July 1952 and merged into Yashan Township in January 1956, both of which belong to Hecun district. In October 1958, it belonged to Hewan commune. Yashan commune was established in September 1961, Yashan township was changed in March 1984, and Yashan town was changed in February 1985. In 1992, it was a town under the jurisdiction of the county. In 1996, it covers an area of 56.8 square kilometers and has a population of 11000. It governs six administrative villages, namely, Yashan, Huangshan, Nanshan, Xishan, Longshan and Tieshan. The town government is located in Yashan, 242414.
The former Lvling town is located in the southwest of Nanling County. The Qing Dynasty belonged to Zhixin Township and Xixiang in 1910. Dingdian township was established in 1939, belonging to Daihui district. At the beginning of liberation, the administrative villages of Lvling, Qingshan, Chuanquan and Yanquan were built, belonging to Daihui district. In February 1950, the township was abandoned and transformed into Lvling, Qingshan, Yanqian and Chuanquan administrative villages, belonging to the second district. In July 1952, two townships of Lvling and Yanquan were set up, belonging to Daihui district. In 1956, 2 township was changed to Hecun District, and Yanquan township was renamed Yangong township. In October 1958, it was merged into Yangong commune, and in November the next year, it was merged into Hewan commune. Lvling commune was set up in September 1961 and changed to township in March 1984, both of which belong to Hewan district. In 1992, it was a township under the jurisdiction of the county. In 1996, it covers an area of 66.3 square kilometers and has a population of 13000. It governs six administrative villages, namely Qingshan, Lvling, qiuchuan, Jiusheng, Xingfu and Tuanjie. In 1997, Lvling township was abolished and Lvling town was established. The town government was stationed in Lvling.

Human history
The New Fourth Army counterattacked the Japanese "mopping up" in Hejiawan, Southern Anhui. On April 25, 1940, more than 3000 Japanese troops "swept" Hejiawan in Fanchang County in three ways. At 9 a.m. on the 26th, more than 500 Japanese troops advancing from liuliding fought with the troops directly under the 3rd regiment of the 2nd detachment of the New Fourth Army. After two hours of fierce fighting, more than 2000 enemies of Jiulang temple came to reinforce. The new fourth army moved in the direction of hengshanling. At 10 am, the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd regiment rushed to Sujia village and encountered the Japanese during the movement. The second battalion immediately launched and occupied the main points. More than 1000 Japanese infantry, cavalry and artillery troops, under the cover of aircraft, attacked the New Fourth Army positions near Sujia village in three ways. By 4 p.m., the enemy's several charges were repulsed. The 1st Battalion of the 3rd regiment arrived near Hejiawan at 11 noon on the 26th and encountered the enemy. The two sides launched a fierce battle. At dusk, the Japanese army retreated to Muzhen. The battle lasted for 9 hours, killing and injuring more than 300 Japanese soldiers (including 3 officers). There were more than 10 casualties in the New Fourth Army, and another 20 were missing.

The town is rich in tourism resources, including pearl spring, Swallow Cave and ancient copper smelting sites. The famous Xishan Scenic Spot was rated as a provincial scenic spot by Anhui provincial government in 1987. After more than ten years of efforts, it was rated as a national 4A scenic spot in December 2008.
Yashan flower sea stone forest
Yashan Huahai Shilin scenic spot is a national AAA scenic spot, which was accepted by the national AAAA acceptance Working Group on December 5, 2008. Yashan Huahai Stone Forest scenic spot is also a provincial Geopark, a provincial farm entertainment demonstration unit, Wuhu science education base, and Wuhu outdoor shooting base. Located in Hewan Town, Nanling County, Wuhu City, the scenic spot is 35 kilometers away from Nanling County, 80 kilometers away from Wuhu City, 48 kilometers away from Jiuhua Mountain scenic spot and 130 kilometers away from Huangshan Mountain scenic spot. It is one of the important scenic spots on the golden line of two mountains and one Lake Tourism in Anhui Province. Close to national highway 318 and 205, the traffic is very convenient. Ya mountain is named after the shape of "Ya". The scenic spot covers an area of 25 square kilometers, with the highest altitude of 436 meters. It is composed of Nanshan Temple (to be restored), Huahai stone forest, Tiankeng and Longshan. The scenic spot is a typical karst landscape, which is the largest karst landscape in East China. The surface of this landform is stone peak, stone forest, stone bud and stone ditch, and the representative landscapes are lion peak, double swallow kiss, jiamashi, stone sea labyrinth, etc. There are 99 caves in the middle layer, including Yanni cave, Xianzi cave, Hailong cave and Xianren cave. The lower layer is underground river. There are many springs and lakes in Ya mountain. Famous scenic spots include Nanling lake, Longgong spring, shuanglongjing, Zhenzhu spring and Fangsheng pool. In the scenic area, there are two Gorges, one large and the other small. Dingqiao Grand Canyon is broad and strong, with Swan Lake in the center. Jiulong Canyon is mysterious, quiet and full of shade. There are cliffs in the valley. Water gushes from the magical Jiulong cave, forming a pearl curtain waterfall with a drop of up to 30 meters.
The scenic spot is rich in cultural landscape, with many ancient ancestral temples and ancient people. There are still ancient temples, huanggai tombs, Erqiao's place to avoid chaos, zhouyu's training place and other relics. The landscape of Ya mountain has also attracted literati of all ages. In 742, Li Bai was sent to Beijing by imperial edict, leaving a famous immortal poem "farewell to children in Nanling to Beijing" in Ya mountain. Wei Yingwu, Wang Anshi, Tang Xianzu, Mei Dingzuo and other historical celebrities have also left ink treasures here.
