Chaipu lotus root is widely planted. It is rich in fish, shrimp, crab and turtle. Jiulongkou town is a scenic tourist attraction. Jiulongkou, a provincial scenic spot, is famous for its marvelous grain trees, long history of Donghai King's tomb and unique sightseeing agriculture. Jiulongkou Town, Huai'an, Dafeng Milu nature reserve and Sheyang Red Crowned Crane nature reserve have become the scenic belt in the north of Jianghuai River in Central Jiangsu.

Jiulongkou town is a rising star of industrial development. There are nearly 100 industrial enterprises in the town, which have initially formed pillar industries such as oilfield machinery, fireworks, rubber parts, cord fabric, glass lamp tubes, etc. Aifu brand valves and Caiqing fireworks are sold well at home and abroad, while Qianshan brand cord fabric and Feinai brand rubber parts are well-known.

It is 20 km south to Beijing Shanghai Expressway and 16 km north to Jianhu city. YanXu Expressway passes through jiulongkou town from east to west. In 2014, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of land and resources, the Ministry of agriculture, the Ministry of civil affairs and the Ministry of science and technology jointly issued a notice to announce the list of 3675 national key towns. A total of 96 towns in Jiangsu Province were listed, including 13 towns in Yancheng City, and jiulongkou and Shanggang towns in Jianhu County.
