Located in Hai'an City, Jiangsu Province, Nanmo town is located at the junction of Nantong, Yancheng and Taizhou. With an area of 74.2 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 45508 (2017), it is a key central town in Jiangsu Province, a coastal open satellite town and a civilized town in Nantong city. Nanmo town has a long history. The world-famous "Qingdun Neolithic site" in the territory is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit, which shows that the ancestors lived here 5000 years ago, and the history of human civilization in Jianghai area has been advanced for more than 3000 years.

In December 2019, Nanmo town was selected as "civilized town of Jiangsu Province in 2016-2018".

In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.

The former Shagang township is located in the northwest of the county, 30 kilometers away from the county. Shagang township was set up at the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China. It was changed into commune in 1958 and township in 1983. In 1996, it covers an area of 22 square kilometers and has a population of 23000. It governs 17 administrative villages including Qingnan, Qingdong, Qingdun, Zhangdong, Shagang, Zhangxi, Tangzhuang, dingshe, gaoduo, Jinyang, yangduo, Hanji, Huangzhuang, Jiangxu, Xincun, Shaxi and qinshe.
