Dingyan town

Dingyan town is located in Rugao City, Jiangsu Province. It is a famous historical and cultural city of Jiangsu Province, the capital of Chinese Bonsai, and the key center town of Rugao City. It is an important industrial town of Nantong City and a civilized town of Jiangsu Province. It is across the river from Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, connecting the South and the north. It is in the 1.5-hour economic circle of Shanghai.

In October 2019, Dingyan town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association confirmed Dingyan town as a national health Township in 2019.

General situation

Dingyan town is located in the east gate of Rugao, the hometown of longevity, bordering on Rudong County. It is a key central town in Jiangsu Province and a civilized town in Jiangsu Province, with an area of 70.53 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 46163 (2017). Historical evolution

Dingyan, 6000 years ago, was located in the southeast floodplain plain of the last sand ridge in Libao Rugao City Lugang yangtaigang area, facing the sea in the East. In 382, the seventh year of emperor Xiaowu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, gufuhaizhou (now most of it is Rudong County), which was conceived in the spring and Autumn period, began to rise in Taigang. At the beginning, there was a Jiajiang River between gufuhaizhou and yangtaigang, which was called Xiaoqin River in ancient times. Jiajiangkou beach in the southwest of gufuhaizhou is located in the area of jindingyan and Shidian.

Historical records: by the time of the Three Kingdoms, the beach at the Jiajiang estuary was shallow enough to walk. Ma ludai, the great Minister of the eastern Wu Dynasty, had been stationed here. In order to prevent the invasion of the sea tide, he built a T-shaped dike, which was named Dingyan. It is wrong for someone to write "Weir" as "Nian", because "Nian" means a small ridge in the field. In the Tang Dynasty, there was a storehouse near the river, which was also named after it. There is a mound in the northern suburb of the town, which is called Fenghuang mound. It is said that Fenghuang once lived there, so Dingyan town was once called Fenggang town. Dingyan began to flourish in the Ming Dynasty, and merchants gathered.

Dingyan township was set up in 1913 and changed to the third district of Rugao County in 1913. In the 23rd year of the Republic of China, it was changed into the second district. The district administration bureau is located in Dingyan town. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Rudong County. On June 22, 1954, it was transferred back to Dingyan district. The residence of the district office was still Dingyan town.

In 1957, Dingyan, Dingbei, Chaoyang and zongchen were merged into Dingyan township. In 1958, the people's commune was changed into Dingyan people's commune. In 1983, the government and society were separated and renamed Dingyan township. On June 2, 1975, Dingyan town was established as a county town. In 1993, Dingxi township was incorporated. On April 23, 2000, Dingyan township was incorporated.
