Historical evolution

In 1956, Dachaidan was the base of Qaidam Working Committee and Qaidam administrative committee. In 1958, the Party committee and people's Government of Haixi Prefecture moved to Dachaidan. Dachaidan city was established in 1959 and became the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the Qaidam Basin at that time. In 1964, Dachaidan town was established. In 1992, the CPC Dachaidan Working Committee and the administrative committee of Dachaidan were established as county-level agencies of the Haixi state committee and the state government.
