Etiquette in foreign talks

The choice of topic is very important in foreign-related talks. When we choose a topic, we must pay attention to the following principles.

(1) Choose a topic that foreign guests like to hear about. Whether in formal or informal occasions, this is generally acceptable. If conditions permit, it's better to study the interests of the people in advance, so that it's easier to get the topic of conversation.

(2) Don't blindly cater to other people's topics. Due to different national conditions and different ideologies, our views on some issues are quite different from those of foreign guests, and we should adopt a correct attitude towards them. We should unify the caliber of major domestic and foreign events in advance, and express our views on non principled issues. Topics that are inconvenient to talk about can be omitted or transferred, but they must not cater to unreasonable topics.

(3) Avoid the taboo topics of foreign guests. When dealing with foreign guests, we should pay attention to their taboos on certain words. The following topics are usually inappropriate to talk about. First, excessive care and admonishment. Second, personal private life. Third, unpleasant things. Fourth, comment on others at will.

(4) Don't talk about topics you're not familiar with. "There's a priority in hearing the truth, and there's a specialty in the art.". In foreign-related activities, we must adhere to the principle of knowing what we know, not knowing what we don't know, and not pretending to know what we don't know.
