Yunjian first floor

Located at no.250, Zhongshan East Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai, "Yunjian first building" was originally the qiaolou of Songjiang government department. Now the gate of Songjiang second middle school is the remnant wall of this building foundation.

Its architectural style takes the traditional Chinese double eaves Xieshan style, the floor is five rooms wide, all propped up with columns. The pavilion is towering in the air, 24.8 meters wide, 10.10 meters deep and about 16 meters high, which is quite spectacular. In the middle of the downstairs is the gate corridor, which is 5.1 meters wide. The ancient building with clear water brick wall, elegant and antique, is similar to the pavilion style building in the picture of Qingming River drawn by Zhang Zeduan of Song Dynasty. It is one of the two beam column style buildings in the whole country at the beginning of liberation.

During the Anti Japanese War, the first building in Yunjian was destroyed by the Japanese army, leaving only the remnant frame. Later, it was destroyed by the typhoon in 1951, leaving only the remnant bricks and the foundation of the building. At the end of the 20th century, new buildings were rebuilt. In 1985, Yunjian first building was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Songjiang County.

According to Kangxi's "Songjiang Fu Zhi", Volume 18 "official records", it is recorded that "the government was established in the early Yuan Dynasty, that is, the county was governed. In the first five days of the 16th year of Yue Dynasty, the powerful magistrate was replaced by a new one. "Dade Kui Chou's successor, Zhou Weihui, moved to qiaolou."

It is said that the foundation of the first building in the cloud was originally the commanding platform of Lu Xun, a great general of the eastern Wu Dynasty in the Three Kingdoms period (but there is no exact investigation). The government department was completed in the first year of Yuanzhen (1295) with a Qiao building outside. It was burned in 1346 and rebuilt in 1349. Building four Ying, about 20 meters high. Under the brick base, there are coupons gate corridor, like the city gate. At the end of Ming Dynasty, qiaolou was destroyed by the war. At the beginning of Shunzhi Dynasty, it was rebuilt again. On the old foundation, it was rebuilt with three couplets of Drum Tower. The building has two floors, standing on the doorway of brick and wood structure, surrounded by clear water brick walls, with elegant corners and antique flavor. In the early 1930s, county magistrate Jin Qingzhang raised money to rebuild the building, erected a banner of "the first building in the cloud", and erected a stone tablet of "rebuilding the first building in the cloud". In the old days, most of the houses in Songjiang city were two stories, and the drum tower was as high as 16 meters, which could be called the tallest building in Songjiang city. In ancient times, Songjiang was called "cloud", so it was called "cloud first building".
