The temple, originally named Guiyuan temple, was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1264-1294). It has four main halls, namely, the temple of heavenly kings, the hall of great heroes, the hall of five hundred Arhats, the hall of Avalokitesvara and the Sutra library. In the center of the hall, there is a 13 meter high Avalokitesvara with thousands of hands and eyes. Not far away from it, there is a special Buddha statue with four different faces. It is said that it represents the four famous Buddhist mountains and the main god of worship, namely, Manjusri Bodhisattva of Wutai Mountain, dizang Bodhisattva of Jiuhua Mountain, Puxian Bodhisattva of Emei Mountain and Guanyin Bodhisattva of Putuo Mountain. There are also statues of Maitreya with big belly, Hanshan, Shide, Guan Gong and Wei Tuo in the hall. Among them, the most famous are "mad monk" and "Ji Gong". Their vivid and interesting are amazing and can be called masterpieces.
