Tianjin old city museum

Tianjin old city museum is located in Xu's courtyard, which is the only well preserved traditional residential compound in Tianjin.

The museum is not big, and its walls are covered with old photos. The exhibits are mainly old objects such as living utensils, costumes, plaques, cooking utensils and furniture, telling the history of the old city of Tianjin.

Tianjin old city museum is a self-supporting institution organized by the culture and Tourism Bureau of Nankai District, Tianjin. It is located in the Xu family courtyard, a traditional folk house. It was originally the home of Xu Pu'an, a comprador of Macquarie company in Tianjin, a British businessman. It was built in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,

It is the only well preserved typical traditional residential courtyard in Tianjin. The museum was officially prepared for construction in 2000 and opened to the public on December 23, 2004, the 600th anniversary of Tianjin's establishment of the city. There are more than 3600 cultural relics in the old city museum, which represent the 600 years of urban development in Tianjin.

Development history

In 1404, the second year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, the city was built, which was called "Tianjin Wei". After the construction of the city, some rich merchants settled in the old city one after another, which made Tianjin rapidly become an important economic town in the north. In the old city, because of the concentration of officials and rich businessmen, gold shops, jewelry buildings, antiques, jade works, schools, pen and ink shops and restaurants gathered here. Tongxing garden in the north of the drum tower, Juxing garden in the East, Shuangli garden and Deqing garden in the east gate have a wide range of cuisines, which are very popular. In the north gate, there are golden shops such as Sanyang, Zhengyang and Tianxiang, which are resplendent. In the north of the drum tower, there are golden sound Garden Opera garden, which is commented by music Sheng every day.

At the beginning of the large-scale urban reconstruction of the old city, Mr. Feng Jicai, together with many experts and scholars, made several on-the-spot cultural relics inspection in the old city, and proposed to transform the Xu's courtyard into the first donated Museum in China, Tianjin old city museum. In this regard, Nankai District Party committee and government have given strong support. It was officially built in 2000 and opened to the outside world on December 23, 2004, the 600th anniversary of Tianjin's establishment of the city.

architectural composition

The plan shows that the courtyard adopts the small style of Chinese architecture, with green brick and hard mountain top. The whole building faces south and qianzhaixun gate. The central axis is composed of three courtyards, and the East and west sides are equipped with arrow paths. It is the only well preserved typical traditional residential courtyard with three in four in one in Tianjin, covering an area of 1381 square meters and a building area of 711 square meters. Among them, the West Chamber of sandaoyuan restored the living room of old Tianjin Weiren, and the room of more than 20 square meters was divided into three small rooms to reproduce the living scenes of people living in the old city.

In the side rooms of the first and second and third Daoyuan of the museum, there are various cultural relics of the old city donated by the people, such as the "official weight" for food at Tianjin water transport terminal in 1863, the "light box" made of mahogany, the boundary monument of Jiangsu guild hall, the "refrigerator" in the period of the Republic of China, as well as the thread bound book, old records, the rice flour wooden Dou in the Qing Dynasty, the Yangliu youth painting board and wooden pot in the Qing Dynasty Cover, wooden cover, branch stove, copper bed, seat clock, hand record player, radio and so on.

It embodies Feng Jicai and many other experts and scholars, leaders at all levels in the urban area and the love of the local people in Jinmen; it witnesses the 600 year history of the city; it records the historical and cultural heritage of weifenghou in Tianjin; it creates and develops the civilization and progress of the city, leaving precious historical and cultural masterpieces. It has become a link between people's memory of old things and their families, an important base for patriotism education and local education, and an important window and bridge for Tianjin, a famous historical and cultural city, to face the world and the future.
