Changchun Liberation Monument

Changchun Liberation Monument stands at the entrance of the north gate of Nanhu Park in Changchun City. It is built to commemorate the liberation of Changchun.

Construction background:

For the liberation of Changchun, thousands of cadres and soldiers gave their precious lives. In order to deeply mourn the revolutionary martyrs who died bravely for the liberation of Changchun, the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the Changchun Municipal People's government decided to build the Changchun Liberation Monument and pay high respect to the people who made contributions to the liberation and construction of Changchun.

On October 18, 1988, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Changchun, the Changchun Liberation Monument was officially completed. The center of the monument is on the extension line running through the axis of Xinmin Street in Changchun City. On the front of the monument is the inscription "Changchun Liberation Monument" by Comrade Peng Zhen. On the back of the monument, there is an inscription made by the Changchun Municipal Government: "express deep mourning for the revolutionary martyrs who died bravely for the liberation of Changchun, and pay high respect to the people who have made contributions to the liberation and construction of Changchun."

Introduction to the monument:

In the South Center of the monument base, a relief wall with a height of more than 3 meters and a width of 22 meters is set by using the terrain elevation difference, and the steps with a width of 11 meters are arranged on both sides. The whole building is composed of the main body of the monument, the base, the relief wall and the steps.. The base of the monument is divided into two layers. The upper layer is a square with a side length of 10.18 meters, and the lower layer is a square with a side length of 19.48 meters, implying the liberation of Changchun on October 18, 1948. The body of the stele is in the shape of a door and its shape is simple. It shows that Changchun was liberated in 1948, and then entered a new era, which is a major regional historical event. The scale, color, material and texture of the building are carefully considered in the whole design, and good visual and landscape effects are achieved. The whole building is decorated with granite plate, with bright color and distinctive characteristics of the times.
