Memorial Park of the West Route Army of the Red Army entering Xinjiang

Located in Hami City, the memorial park of the West Route Army of the Red Army was built to commemorate the arrival of the rest of the West Route Army in Xingxing gorge under the leadership of Li Xiannian and the meeting of Chen Yun, the representative of the CPC Central Committee, into Xinjiang. Covering an area of 15 mu, the memorial garden of the west route of the Red Army in Xinjiang adopts the pattern of antique garden architecture. It is a beautiful place for commemoration and appreciation. In the middle of the main entrance of the memorial park is the West Route Army memorial hall. The bronze statues of Chen Yun and Li Xiannian live in the center of the memorial hall, lined with oil paintings of XINGXINGXIA valley. On the four walls of the museum are a large number of precious historical pictures and some real objects of the Red Army's West Route Army's battle in Hexi, meeting at Xingxing gorge and returning to Yan'an.

In October 2018, it was rated as the national research and practice education base for primary and secondary school students.

Introduction to the Memorial Park

The main body of the memorial park is the monument of the West Route Army of the Red Army entering Xinjiang. The monument is shaped as a Red Army soldier wearing an octagonal cap, carrying a big knife on his back, holding a steel gun in his right hand, with bright eyes and looking ahead, which fully shows the revolutionary heroism of the West Route Army soldiers who are brave, indomitable and not afraid of sacrifice. The base of the statue is 3 meters high and 4 meters wide. The statue is 6.2 meters high and weighs 5 tons. It is decorated with sunset red marble. The front of the base is engraved with Chinese inscriptions, and the back is Uyghur inscriptions. The inscription, with 622 characters, describes the fighting history and heroic achievements of the Western Route Army, praises the heroic spirit of the Western Route Army in upholding the revolution and its dedication to the party and the people. In front of the main monument is a 12 meter long, 1.5-meter-high, 2-meter inclined black marble facing, on which is the name of "monument of the West Route Army of the Red Army entering Xinjiang" inscribed by Comrade Chen Yun. In addition, the four groups of reliefs are relatively independent and organically integrated, forming a heroic and solemn historical picture of the West Route Army.

The memorial park of the West Route Army of the Red Army has become an important base for patriotic education in Hami City.

Current progress

Hami Red Army West Road army entering Xinjiang Memorial Park is a key red tourism project and patriotic education base in Xinjiang. It is located on the west side of Hami Civil Aviation Museum. The main project was completed in 2013, and now it is in the stage of interior decoration and exhibition.

The interior decoration project of the memorial park was approved by the municipal development and Reform Commission in December 2013, with a total investment of 6 million yuan. The decoration and exhibition area of the project is 2030 square meters. The exhibition is mainly arranged in the exhibition halls of Xinjiang West Route Army embarking on a new journey, Xinjiang revolutionary history, and the CPC's anti-corruption campaign. At present, the budget estimate, budget and construction drawing of the project have been completed, and the preliminary work such as bidding is proceeding orderly. It is expected to start in late March 2014 and complete in late May.

After the completion and opening of the interior decoration and exhibition of the Memorial Park, it will play an important role in carrying forward and inheriting the fine tradition of hard work and plain living of the Red Army, developing Hami tourism, promoting economic and social development, and strengthening national and youth patriotic consciousness.
