Zhangku Avenue is a famous "Northern Silk" road developed in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, from Zhangjiakou through Zhangbei and Erlianhaote to Kulun (Ulan Bator). At that time, a large number of fur and livestock on the grassland were transported to the Central Plains and coastal areas through this avenue.
