Lingao Confucian temple is located on the Bank of the beautiful Wenlan River in Lingao County. It is a relatively complete, largest and oldest large-scale ancient architectural complex in Hainan Province. It is located on the Bank of the beautiful Wenlan River in Lingao County. The main building consists of Dacheng hall, Dadongmen, Dongwei, Xiwei, Minghuan temple, Xiangxian temple, etc. In front of dachengmen, there are lingxingmen, panchi, jinshuiqiao, Dongzhai, Xizhai, etc., which are famous tourist attractions in Lingao County. Since 1992, the restoration has been funded by the relevant central and provincial departments and the people's Government of Lingao County. It is now a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level and is open to the outside world.

history

Lingao Confucian temple was originally called Confucianism. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was combined with Confucius Temple, which was called Xuegong, also called Confucius Temple and temple.

Lingao Confucian temple was built in the Qing Li period of the Northern Song Dynasty under the imperial edict. It has a history of more than 900 years. It was built in Shaoxing of Southern Song Dynasty and destroyed in Yuan Dynasty. It has been more than 700 years since it was rebuilt in Hongwu of Ming Dynasty. The Confucian temple went through the collection and construction of county magistrate in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. In the early years of the Republic of China, Tan mingluan, a gentleman, and others organized dozens of people to go to villages and towns to raise money for major repairs. According to the stone tablet, 1468 people donated 8768 silver dollars, of which 80 were the most. In that overhaul, the layout structure of Ming Dynasty was still retained. The rebuilt Confucian temple was of wood and stone structure, which was composed of Zhubi, Dacheng hall, Chongsheng temple, Minglun hall, Dongzhai, Xizhai, Dongwei, Xiwei, Minghuan temple, Xiangxian temple, Jiexiao temple, Zhongyi temple, sacrificial chamber, musical instrument room, panchi, Panshui bridge, Lingxing gate, ritual gate, Yilu, etc., covering an area of 3188 square meters.

Lingao Confucian temple is a public temple where people worship Confucius and Confucian sages. On the day of offering sacrifices to Confucius, there are thousands of people in Lincheng, and people vie to offer sacrifices to Confucius, which reflects Lingao people's virtue of advocating Confucianism and respecting sages.

From its foundation to the period of the Republic of China, Lingao Confucian temple has always been the highest institution to develop education, cultivate talents and revitalize Lingao culture. In the middle of the Republic of China, new learning flourished, and the Confucian temple was changed into a simple rural normal school in Lingao, which was the predecessor of Lingao middle school and Lingao normal school.
