Mao Zedong Library

Shaoshan Mao Zedong library is a commemorative professional library, an important part of Shaoshan revolutionary memorial site, and an important base for revolutionary tradition education. It aims to build a "Mao Zedong Thought Research Information Center" and has become the Mao Zedong Thought Research Information Center of Xiangtan University.

Historical evolution

Mao Zedong library is at Zhang Xuchong, 200 meters north of Mao Zedong Memorial Hall. It was built in 1986, laid the foundation on December 6, 1993, completed in 1995, and officially opened on December 20, 1996. Jiang Zemin inscribed the name of the museum. The main building of the museum is more than 3000 square meters, with a planned collection of 400000-500000 books. The main contents of the collection are books and periodicals read and annotated by Mao Zedong, Mao Zedong's manuscripts, various versions of Mao Zedong's works at home and abroad in various historical periods, and articles and Monographs on Mao Zedong and his thoughts at home and abroad. More than 110000 books have been collected. The completion and opening of the museum aims to provide a relatively centralized and complete information center for the study and study of Mao Zedong and his thoughts throughout the country and even the world.

Organization setup

Mao Zedong library is divided into five departments, namely office, Acquisition Department, research room, reader service department and digital resources development department. The functions and responsibilities of each department are as follows:

·Office: responsible for comprehensive coordination, secretarial files, administrative logistics, personnel and labor, security, financial and property management, etc;

·Acquisition and editing department: responsible for book collection, purchase, classification, cataloging, sorting, collection, storage, etc;

·Research Office: responsible for the research of Mao Zedong Thought and life achievements, collection literature research, etc;

·Reader service department: responsible for book borrowing, reader consultation and answer, collection resources display, etc;

·Digital resources development department: responsible for the digitization of library collection, the purchase and utilization of digital resources, the operation and maintenance of the Bureau's website, etc.

There are 23 employees, including 1 senior professional title, 3 intermediate professional title and 13 junior professional title.

management system

Shaoshan Mao Zedong library adopts ILASII library management system to realize the automatic management of book purchasing, cataloguing, circulation and borrowing, and continuous publications. The electronic reading room has a host computer and 15 workstations, and has built a bibliographic database of Mao Zedong literature with nearly 30000 pieces of data. Readers can find the pictures they need from the title, author, theme, classification and other ways Books. At the same time, as a tourist attraction, our museum has held dozens of exhibitions such as "Mao Zedong Works edition Exhibition" and "collection Treasures Exhibition". There are three basic exhibitions in the museum, focusing on more than 200 precious editions of selected works of Mao Zedong at home and abroad, as well as precious cultural relics, calligraphy and paintings. Among them, Mao Zedong's works printed in reed marshes, Romanian former president Ceausescu's hard bound edition of selected works of Mao Zedong in Roman as a national gift to Mao Zedong during his visit to China, and half of Mao Zedong and Mr. Li Jinxi, the first normal teacher The correspondence of more than a century is an exclusive collection, which has been published for the first time. The display of rubbings with the characters "Fu" and "Shou" in Mao Zedong's handwriting makes tourists who pray for good fortune and hope for a better future forget to return.

Liu Guoxin, male, Han nationality, born in April 1967 in Xiangtan County, Hunan Province, has a university degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China. In December 2007, he served as full-time Deputy Secretary of Shaoshan Mao Zedong library.

Cheng Zhenghui, female, Han nationality, was born in July 1962 in Nanxian County, Hunan Province. She has a university degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China.
