Since ancient times, Town God's Temple has been built in the city, but there is a "Town God's Temple" on a mountain 25 kilometers southeast of Shangdang District, Changzhi City, Shanxi province. It is also known as the "City God of the world". This mountain is called Tianziling. It is majestic and spectacular. When you look up in front of the temple, it is expected to be hundreds of miles away. Why is this Town God's Temple built on such a remote mountain, and what is known as "the city god of the world"? There is still a history!

It is said that there was only a small mountain temple on the purple ridge. It is said that Wang Mang usurped the throne and pursued Liu Xiu. When he came to Tianziling, Liu Xiu was thirsty and unable to escape. Seeing that the pursuers were coming, Liu Xiu rushed to the mountain temple in a hurry. At that time, the mountain temple was dilapidated. When the door was covered by a big spider web, Liu Xiu rushed in panic, and the spider web was poked into a big hole. Liu Xiu, who broke into the temple, looked back and saw that the spider web had broken. He thought, "when the thief Wang Mang comes, he sees that the spider web has broken. I'm sure I can't live in the temple." Thinking of this, he knelt down in front of the altar and prayed: "if you can bridge the cobweb and save my life, the mountain god will be crowned as the city god of the world." When Liu Xiuyan finished, he saw that the spider web suddenly closed, restored to its original state, and covered the door more tightly.

After a while, the murderous Wang Mang led his men and horses to the temple. There was no sign of Liu Xiu. He wanted to search the temple. When he saw that the door was covered with cobwebs, and there was no sign of any damage, he hurried to other places.

Later, Liu Xiu ascended the throne and granted it the title of "City God, the capital of the world", rebuilt temples and inscribed plaques. From then on, "Tianziling" was also called "City God ridge". Up to now, the five characters of "City God of the capital of the world" on the banner of the temple gate are still vaguely visible.
