The ancient battlefield of Miao Uprising

The ancient battlefield of Miao people's uprising is located in the area from pinglong to Houshan guiyupo in the suburb of Jishou City, Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province. The vast mountains and rivers used to be the battlefield of the last decisive battle between the Miao people's uprising army and the Qing army. Up to now, iron cannons, copper cannons and their pellets with a thick mouth are often found in this area. Some of them have been collected in Hunan Provincial Museum and Autonomous Prefecture Museum. The ancient battlefield is pinglong terrain, with a long strip-shaped basin in the middle and mountains on all sides. The mountains are majestic, surrounded by cliffs, and the terrain is dangerous. Shuimenggang in the east of pinglong is the gateway of renpinglong. It is the most important barrier with favorable geographical position. The two mountains and Jiajiang River face each other, and the wall is as steep as a chip. It is easy to defend but difficult to attack. The uprising army defeated the Qing army's attack many times by taking advantage of the geographical condition of pinglong, which can defend and attack.

In the first year of Jiaqing, three marshals of eledengbaotong had more than 100000 soldiers. The Qing army divided into five groups to attack the core of the Miao people's uprising army, pinglong. Because of the great disparity between the uprising army and the Qing army, shuimengang was lost. After the fall of shuimengang, the Qing army drove pinglong straight along the Jiulong River. The volunteers were brave and good at fighting, and launched a decisive battle with the Qing army in the vast fields of pinglong. But in the end, because of the large number of soldiers in the Qing Dynasty, the rebel army had to retreat to guiyupo and Shilong in the back mountain of pinglong. Wu Tingyi, the later King of Wu, and Shi liudeng, the founding general, led the rebel army to fight a decisive battle with the Qing army here to the last moment of life.
