Mingyue island is located in the middle reaches of Nenjiang River, seven kilometers northwest of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. It is a Jiangxin Island surrounded by water, covering an area of about 0.8 square kilometers.

It is named after the bright moon reflecting on the tender water. It is also called sister island with the Sun Island Scenic Spot in Harbin.

The scenery of Mingyue island is divided into central sightseeing area, forest area, northern garden plant area, garden production area and sports activity area.

Overview of scenic spots

Mingyue Island Scenic Spot is located seven kilometers northwest of Qiqihar city. It is a Jiangxin Island surrounded by water in Nenjiang river flowing through Qiqihar. The island covers an area of 360 hectares. The island is covered with trees, flowers and plants, and the natural landscape is magnificent.

In the center of the island, there is a group of exquisite and elegant ancient buildings, and around the island, the longest children's tour train railway in the country has been built.

In summer, it's an excellent place for boating, camping, and vacation. In winter, it is a tourist resort for enjoying the scenery of northern China and carrying out ice and snow activities.

Wanshan temple on the island is an antique complex with diamond layout. It was built in the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. It is said that the imperial court built it to govern the imperial style here. The name of the temple is also given by the emperor. There are Yuhuang Pavilion, Baiyang Pavilion, Sanxing Pavilion and Sanqing Pavilion. More than ten statues in the temple are vivid. It was built in 1925. In 1983, Chen Lei, governor of Heilongjiang Province, visited the island and named "Wanshan Temple" as "Mingyue island".

Mingyue island is subordinate to the Construction Bureau of Qiqihar City, a sub county financial support unit. It is a national "AAAA" tourist attraction and a provincial scenic spot. It mainly undertakes the four functions of resource protection, planning, development and construction, and operation and management of the scenic spot, with 151 employees.

Scenery on the island

Mingyue island is surrounded by water on all sides. It has a unique geographical environment. It is dominated by beautiful natural landscape and decorated with exquisite antique buildings. Due to the semi humid continental monsoon climate in the middle temperate zone, it has four distinct seasons and different scenery. In spring, it is full of grass, green leaves and birds. In summer, it is full of flowers, clear water and blue sky. In autumn, it is full of trees and fruits, In winter, yushuqiongzhi, wrapped in silver, constitutes a unique landscape of northern China. The scenic area retains the intact and original natural landscape of the north and the natural ecosystem of the plain. It has the characteristics of grassland plants in Inner Mongolia. It collects the animal and plant resources in the plain under the semi humid continental monsoon climate in the middle temperate zone. The vegetation coverage rate is more than 90%, and there are more than 80 families of plants; there are more than 190 kinds of birds; there are more than 50 kinds of fish and mammals. The main trees are elm, mulberry, willow, hawthorn and Vitex. There are 13 ancient and famous trees, among which one mulberry and one mangrove are rare in the region because of their long age, large size and vigorous growth. There are also hundreds of meters of Wild Iris community and daylily community, and the animals are fox, pheasant, hare, grey magpie and magpie.

Sand dunes, swamps and lakes are distributed on the island, and the terrain is sinuous, undulating and complex. More than 500 kinds of plants and more than 150000 trees cover the continuous sand dunes. In spring and summer, dozens of birds, such as grey magpie, kite hawk, river gull, wax beak, kingfisher, skylark, lark and woodpecker, are flying in the forest.

The island is now divided into central tourist area, forest area, northern garden plant area, garden production area and sports area. In the central tourist area, there are four newly renovated ancient buildings with cornices and painted buildings. In the pavilions, there are color carvings and large-scale color paintings, as well as new four corner, six corner and eight corner halal pavilions and nine large-scale murals. The forest area and the sports area are places for holiday and picnic.

Mingyue Island ski resort is the largest urban ski resort in Qiqihar. Mingyue Island ski resort starts from the mountains on the west side of the general's mansion and radiates downward in a fan-shaped shape. The land of more than 20000 square meters is silvery white and crystal clear.

Honor of scenic spot

Mingyue island was established as a natural landscape and classical architecture scenic spot in 1982.

In 1994, it was approved as a provincial scenic spot by Heilongjiang provincial government.

Now it is a national 4A tourist attraction.
