Jiuhua Temple

Jiuhua temple, formerly known as sun jia'an, also known as Jingguan temple, is located at 28 xiaojiuhua Road, west of Dongpo Park, Yanling East Road, Changzhou City, covering an area of 3 mu and a construction area of 3500 square meters.

history

It was first built in the 18th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1590). It was originally built by sun Shen, the Minister of rites, for his younger sister's sake. So it was named sun jia'an. It was built in the South Garden of the city. It was destroyed in the war in the Qing Dynasty.

Rebuilt in the 19th year of Guangxu reign

Guangxu 19 years (1893), by the sun's granddaughter miaoxing rebuilt, there are 17 halls, before and after three. In 1934, it was changed from the system of inheriting descendants to the system of selecting sages from ten sides, and was renamed Jingguan temple. The abbot Chuan Yi has more than ten nuns. Sun jia'an is a pure and strict Buddhist nunnery. He never goes out to do Buddhist work and raise money. He is the only nunnery in Changzhou, and has the reputation of "Buddhist jungle". During the "Cultural Revolution", sun jia'an was destroyed and Chuanyi lived in Maopeng, Jiuhua Mountain.

Opening hours

In September 1980, it was approved as an open temple. In 1984, Chuanyi returned to the monastery and became Abbot again. Then she turned the Guanyin hall into a main hall, restored the mountain gate, rebuilt the Buddha statues and carried out normal Buddhist activities. Tianning Temple has presented three Jade Buddha Guanyin. After Chuanyi passed away in 1987, Dehua took over the post of abbot. After Dehua passed away, Kuan Jing, the abbot of wuzhuan temple in Guangzhou, was in charge of the post. Because there is no development space around the original site, Jingguan temple was moved to the original site of xiaojiuhua temple with the approval of the municipal government in April 2000, In November 2001, the foundation laying ceremony of Jiuhua temple was held, which took more than one year to construct. New Shanmen, Daxiong hall, Sansheng hall, Wanfo building, Guanyin hall, dizang hall, Hakka hall, Zhaitang, Fayu lecture hall, Ganlu Suzhai hall, etc. were built. The archaic architectural style of siheyuan with Buddha Hall as the main body was completed in June 2003 and renamed Jiuhua temple in May 2003.
