Yurang bridge generally refers to Chiqiao (Beijing Opera yurang bridge)

There are two yurang bridges in China: one is Xingtai yurang bridge. According to Shunde Fu Zhi of Ming Dynasty, yurang bridge is 5 Li north of the city, where yurang assassinated Zhao Xiangzi in the spring and Autumn period, and it has been destroyed in the war; the other is Chiqiao bridge, formerly known as yurang bridge, which is in Chiqiao village, 24 km southwest of Taiyuan city. It is now in good condition. The bridge is built with sand and stone, fenced on the bridge, and Jin water flows under the bridge. Therefore, the village where Chiqiao is located is named Chiqiao village. In addition, Gao Qingkui and Qingyi's new Peking Opera "yurang bridge".

Creative background

Gao Qingkui, the founder of the high school of Peking Opera, and the famous playwright Qingyi Jushi jointly created a new Peking opera play yurang bridge. The performance from Beijing to Shanghai inspired the patriotic enthusiasm of a large number of audiences.

Work content

Zhao Xiangzi (Wuji) of Jin state was besieged by Zhiyao. He used Zhang mengtan's tactics to unite Han Hu and Wei Ju, who helped Zhishi, to destroy Zhiyao. Yurang was respected by Zhiyao and wanted to stab Wuji for revenge. He was captured by Wuji and released. Yurang hid under the bridge. He still tried to assassinate and was captured by Wuji. Yurang asked Wuji to take off his clothes, cut his clothes with a sword to repay Zhiyao, and then killed himself.

Performance record

Gao Qingkui premiered in Beijing Huale theater on April 24, 1932, with Gao Qingkui as yurang, fan Baoting as Zhao Wuqiu, and Li Huiqin as yurang's wife Jiang. In this play, Gao Qingkui plays Laosheng before and Hualian after. It is used to express the passion of "Zhibo treats me as a statesman, so I repay him as a statesman".
