Masangxi ancient town

Masangxi ancient town (renamed as Dadukou ancient town) is located in Dadukou District, Chongqing. In early 2016, based on the restoration and reconstruction of the original site of Masangxi ancient town, the street was officially opened on January 24, 2017.

The total construction area of Masangxi ancient town is about 17000 square meters, which is a typical mountain Street Town landform of Wharf in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The whole block is up the river, divided into four steps, a total of three streets and nine lanes. In addition to the traditional buildings, the scenic spots of the ancient town also include the Masangxi bridge, the old Chengdu Chongqing railway and the old wharf.

On June 22, 2018, on the basis of extensive consultation and suggestions, the ancient town of Masangxi was officially renamed Dadukou.

The old street of Masangxi ancient town, which was more than 300 meters before restoration, began to be rebuilt in April 2015. The restoration project adheres to the "four original principles", that is, the restoration and construction of the original area, height, foundation and scope. The original road network structure of the ancient town, lizhushan folk houses, Masangxi supply and marketing cooperative and other historical landscapes are intact, and the original flavor of the ancient town's stone and bamboo bridges, grass and wood are maintained.

The name of Dadukou originates from the well-known Yidu along the Yangtze River. The history of Dadukou has left its mark here since the stone age. From the Warring States period to the Qin and Han Dynasties, Tang and Song Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Yangtze River Ferry represented by Masangxi ancient town records the historical heritage here for thousands of years. Since modern times, Dadukou has been prosperous because of heavy steel and industry, creating a brilliant period of China's heavy industry construction during the Anti Japanese War and after the founding of the people's Republic of China.

Masangxi ancient town, from the early riverside ferry to the modern busy commercial port, has been hidden in the boudoir for decades. Masangxi ancient town is an important landmark of Dadukou cultural tourism industry. It will be built into a theme boutique cultural tourism ancient town integrating food, drink, play, travel, music and shopping.

The commercial leasing area of the ancient town is nearly 17000 square meters, and the business types include catering, teahouses, inns, bars, Han culture exhibition, VR experience, small commodities, etc.

The ancient town of Masangxi has been famous for "eating fish" since ancient times. Among the more than 30 shops officially opened on the 24th, there are restaurants specializing in eating sauerkraut fish. In addition, there are light bars, cafes, teahouses, roast sausage, corn cake, sesame sugar and other traditional snacks.
