history

Sanlitun was originally a farmhouse three miles away from the city wall of Beijing, so it was named "Sanlitun". The original mausoleums of Prince Laogong and Dorgon nearby were damaged due to their age. In 1952, Beijing Institute of technology, Beijing Dance School and Beijing Normal School moved here. In the middle and late 1950s, due to the large-scale urban construction in Beijing, many relocated households moved here and established "Happy Village". With the increase of the population, Beijing No.80 Middle School, Chaoyang Hospital, Sanlitun primary school, Sanlitun No.1 middle school and Sanlitun No.2 Middle School were built. In the early 1960s, Premier Zhou Enlai turned this area into the second embassy area of Beijing and began to build it. Many diplomatic apartments were completed one after another. With the construction of the embassy area, Sanlitun has become increasingly prosperous. In the early 1980s, Zhaolong Hotel, the first joint venture hotel in China, opened here. Later, the first bar in Beijing was opened in Sanlitun South Street. In 1995, the first bar was opened in Sanlitun North Street, during which the bar area became famous.

Environmental Science

Sanlitun is close to the second embassy district of Beijing, and most of its customers are foreigners. In addition, there are many foreign-funded enterprises and white-collar administrative personnel in Dongcheng District. After that, media workers, actors and artists, Chaozhou people also came and went here. Dashanlitun district is developing gradually, with high-end hotels, shopping malls, etc. It's relatively cold during the day and busy after 9 pm.

In June 2004, Chaoyang District land and Housing Administration designated in the "Beijing urban housing demolition notice" that the demolition of Sanlitun district includes the East Building of Sanlitun, the South Building 2 of Sanlitun West District, the West Building 3 of South Sanlitun west district and the North Gongti road. The administration plans to redevelop Sanlitun into a high-end shopping mall area and expand its commercial scope, which will be called new Sanlitun and "big Sanlitun". It is also surrounded by large-scale commercial projects such as Sanlitun taiguli (Beijing), Sanlitun SOHO, China Red Street, two villages and three villages of happiness square (Beijing).
