Historical evolution

Shenjing village is located on Changzhou Island at the mouth of the Pearl River. It is said that the native people are Ling. It was moved from Fujian in the late Southern Song Dynasty to escape the yuan soldiers' pursuit. There is very little arable land on the island. Many villagers have always made a living by business. The rich often invest in Shunde, Panyu, and reclaim land (Shatian). As a result, they become "business landlords". As a result, Shenjing village became rich and prosperous in culture and education.

Characteristic landscape

Shenjing village, an ancient village with profound culture, was built in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. There are many blue brick houses and stone streets with Lingnan characteristics in the village. The ancient ancestral halls, mottled plaques and mellow Cantonese Opera are full of ancient charm. Shenjingwen pagoda was built in the Qing Dynasty, about 18 meters high. It is an ancient pagoda with hexagonal attic style brick and wood structure. Ling's ancestral hall

The most complete and largest building in the village is "Ling's ancestral hall". Ling's ancestral hall was built in the late Ming Dynasty, rebuilt in the 26th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1846) and repaired in the first year of tongzhi (1862). It is the ancestral temple of Ling's family in Shenjing village, where the memorial tablets of Ling's ancestors are worshipped. Although the stone and wood carvings on Ling's ancestral hall are quite old, the former gorgeous and exquisite brick carvings and wood carvings are still preserved. Ling's ancestral hall is the representative here. The ancestral hall is a building in the late Ming Dynasty. It is said that it was built by Ling's tenth generation. Venta

Wenta is an ancient pagoda with Pavilion style brick and wood structure beside Shenjing village. It is the treasure of Shenjing village. On the top of the pagoda is a lotus flower with a gourd in its heart. The pagoda is hexagonal in shape and has only one door on its six sides. It is said that there are three layers in the pagoda, each of which is separated by a wooden board. The first layer is dedicated to the God of earth, the second layer to Wenchang and Guangong, and the third layer to wenkuixing. Every Spring Festival, villagers will come here to worship, pray for good weather, peace and prosperity of the country, grain harvest. Every Spring Festival, the villagers of Shenjing village will come to Wenta to pray. Wenta is located on the slope beside Shenjing village. It is an ancient pagoda with a pavilion style brick and wood structure. On the main door of the pagoda, the forehead is engraved with "beautiful mountains and rivers" and the upper floor is engraved with "Zhencai Gaofei". It is said that it was all written by Ling Xiacheng, a good calligrapher in Shenjing village. Wenta's architectural technology is quite unique. It has three layers, each of which has a waist eaves floating out, and the exquisite relief pattern under the eaves is a major feature of Wenta.

Zhugang alien cemetery

From the ancient village of Shenjing, walk in another direction, pass the big bawanghua farm, and then walk about 10 minutes to Zhugang foreigner cemetery. Before and after the Opium War, due to the deep water and wide harbor in the area of Changzhou Island and Shenjing, it gradually became a trading port where merchants gathered, ships shuttled and berthed. Zhugang foreigner cemetery was the place where foreign businessmen and government officials who died in Guangzhou due to illness and accident were buried. Zhugang, where the cemetery is located, is commonly known as fangui mountain. There are dozens of tombstones of different sizes and engraved with various characters on the tens of Mu mountain. Most of them have been removed or destroyed. More than ten of them are now in centralized custody and will be sorted out and restored in the future.

In the Jifang, there are long narrow stone streets, with ancestral temples, private schools, libraries, houses, shops and public wells. Many people's outer walls are covered with overlord flowers.
