Daoguanhe scenic spot is located in the east of Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, 69 kilometers away from Wuhan city and 20 kilometers away from Xinzhou City. It borders Huanggang in the East and Macheng in the north. It belongs to the foot of Dabie Mountain.

The landform of Daoguanhe area is just like its life experience. In the East, there are continuous hills, and in the west, there are hills. A river, gurgling all the year round, flows from east to west. Because the flow direction of this river is opposite to that of most rivers in China (from west to East), people call it inverted irrigation river. Since the Eastern Jin Dynasty, there was a famous Taoist who envied Fengshui and came to build a room for alchemy. In memory of him, people changed the river to Guanhe.

Development history

Daoguanhe reservoir was built in 1956. It is a comprehensive utilization project mainly for flood control and irrigation and also for aquaculture. There are two main north-south canals with a total length of 40km. The reservoir has a storage capacity of 1.09m3 and a rain bearing area of 108.84km2, which is magnificent and boundless. The reservoir is like a huge silver bell embedded in the mountains, with clear water and rippling blue waves.

At Wuhan Xinrong passenger bus station (next to Xinrong station of light rail line 1), take Hankou Daoguanhe special line bus to Daoguanhe scenic area in Xinzhou District, or take Hankou Xinzhou special line bus to Yingcheng passenger station in Xinzhou District, and then transfer to Xinzhou Daoguanhe special line bus to Daoguanhe scenic area.

Recommended itinerary
