The Red Army Long March Kedu Memorial Hall mainly includes the former site of the long march headquarters of the Central Red Army, the combat room of the general staff, the rest room of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Bocheng, Zhu De and other comrades in Dangui village on the long march road, and the remains of the martyrs.

On April 28, 1935, the Central Red Army entered Xundian County during the long march. On April 29, 1935, it issued the "instructions on our army to cross the Jinsha River quickly and establish the Soviet Area in Western Sichuan". On the 30th, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Zhang Wentian, Wang Jiaxiang and other central leaders entered Dangui village of Kedu town and made specific arrangements for crossing the Jinsha River. On April 4, 1936, he long, Ren Bishi, Guan Xiangying, Xiao Ke and other comrades led the second and sixth Red Army Corps to enter Xundian county again. On April 9, they carried out the famous "battle of the sixth armour" and defeated the enemy's pursuit. They even conquered ten counties and successfully crossed the Jinsha River from the shigu ferry in Lijiang.

In October 1977, the provincial government established the Kedu Red Army Long March Memorial Hall in Dangui village. In 1983, the memorial hall was announced as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the provincial government. In 1992, it was designated as the provincial modern history and national day education base. In 1997, it was named as Yunnan patriotic education base by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.
