Dongmaozhou Island

Dongmaozhou island is located in the coastal waters of Sanya, a beautiful tourist city, where the army company at the southernmost end of China, dongmaozhou coastal defense company of Sanya police area, is stationed.

Dongmaozhou island and ximaozhou Island complement each other. Because the shape of the two islands is like two giant Ao, they are called dongmaozhou island and ximaozhou island by fishermen who have lived in Sanya for generations.

The area of dongmaozhou island is not large, with only 0.83 square kilometers of land. Before the early 1950s, the beautiful dongmaozhou island had been silent in the vast South China Sea, with bare reefs exposed in the scorching sun. Life on the island is hard, and there is no fresh water. It has not had the basic conditions to live on the island. It was called "Fire Island" by fishermen in the past "Wind island" and "desert island". However, since the Chinese people's Liberation Army established a company stationed on the island in the early 1950s, the former "Fire Island", "wind island" and "desert island" here have now become the "steel post" and "sea garden" in the South China Sea.

In April 1993, General Secretary Jiang Zemin came to dongmaozhou island for inspection. He saw that the once desolate island had become a green tree covered outpost with rich products, entertainment facilities and learning and training facilities. When he was happy to write the word "Tianya sentry" for the officers and soldiers stationed on the island.

On the dock, the scene is inspiring: clusters of sisal like steel swords, clusters of triangular plum like purple clouds, and many seabirds dancing among the trees. Instructor Li Chao said that although the island is now picturesque, it used to be a desert island "covered with coral reefs and birds do not stay". The officers and soldiers of the company are the only residents on the island. Dongmaozhou island is also known as "Bing island".

Walking forward, acacia trees of the size of bowls come into view, especially the mottos that are engraved with the feelings of the officers and soldiers guarding the island: "the writer describes life with pen and ink, the soldiers interpret life with blood and sweat", "a family on the island, build a heart on the Island" Li Chao told reporters that behind every motto, there are stories of island keepers building and loving the island.

The natural conditions on the island are hard, lacking water and electricity, and the annual average temperature is 34 ℃. Generator Wang Qingbo is always busy. For 11 years, he has been quietly waiting by the roaring generator to send light to his comrades in arms. Indeed, on this small island far away from the mainland, successive generations of officers and soldiers have taken up their missions with wisdom and sweat. They sifted rocks for soil, built sunshade nets, and settled more than 20 vegetable varieties such as peppers and tomatoes on the island. They brought back exotic flowers and plants from all over the island, and decorated the edges and corners of the island into seven landscapes and eight gardens, such as "one pillar of the South sky" and "bonsai garden"
