Shungeng Park (also known as Elephant Park) is located in Shangyu City, Zhejiang Province. The main scenic spots in the park are Shungeng group sculptures, Dashun temple, Shunqiao and Shunjing. It reflects the history of Emperor Shun's birth in Shangyu and his avoidance of Danzhu. Emperor Shun's glorious life of filial piety first and diligent Administration for the people is highlighted.

Historical evolution

Initial purpose

Cao'e temple, the first temple in the south of the Yangtze River, and Shungeng Park, with Shungeng group sculptures as the main scenery, are the two main scenic spots of Cao'e scenic spot. Based on the two historical figures of Emperor Shun and Cao E, this paper highlights the theme of filial piety culture in China for thousands of years, reflecting the long history and culture of Shangyu. Shangyu is the hometown of Emperor Shun. Emperor Shun later avoided Danzhu and went back to his hometown, where hundreds of officials accompanied him, so there were the names of Shangyu and Baiguan. It is said that Dashun once ploughed in Lishan, where angels and elephants plowed for him and birds plowed for him. His filial piety moved the world. Shungeng Park embodies the theme of Emperor Shun's filial piety first and diligent Administration for the people.

Shungeng Park, not far behind Cao'e temple, was built in 2001.

Later stage project

In order to learn from the noble virtues of the sages, carry forward the national spirit, and develop Shangyu tourism faster and better, Shangyu municipal Party committee and government will rebuild the Dashun temple in 2006. The project is located in the east of Fenghuang mountain, west of Cao'e River, south of Waihuan South Road and north of Shangsha village in the southwest of Shangyu City, with a total planning area of 63.6 hectares. Focusing on the theme of filial piety culture, the scenic area will construct the entrance reception service area, filial daughter Culture Park, Emperor Shun culture park, Fenghuangshan sightseeing area, leisure and entertainment city and dynamic experience area according to the national AAAA standard, with a total estimated investment of 250 million yuan. The estimated total investment of the first phase of Cao'e scenic area construction project is 82 million yuan. The construction contents mainly include Dashun temple, Yushun ancestral temple, Chonghua temple, the best house in the world, and the renovation of the ancient canal scenic area. The great form has no shape. It is mainly designed by Mr. Zhu Guangya, the famous architect of Southeast University. The design fully embodies the concept of "elephant invisibility", striving to be magnificent and magnificent, and fully embodies the quality of Shun Shun's filial piety. The project was officially started on December 30, 2007. It is planned to take two years for construction and will be completed and put into operation before 2009. At that time, Cao'e scenic spot will become the most influential model scenery in Shangyu City.

Shungeng group sculptures in Shungeng park are created by Han Meilin, a Chinese artist. The group sculptures are 68 meters long and 27 meters high, with a total weight of more than 800 tons.

Stories and legends

According to legend, when Emperor Shun was the people in ancient times, he worked under Lishan Mountain, which was also called Shungengshan. The legend of "Xiang Geng Niao Yun" about Shun's farming and Lishan Mountain is very popular: after Shun's father Kuan sou married his stepmother Ren Nu, although Shun was beaten and scolded, he was very filial. When his stepmother gave birth to an elephant and a younger sister, Shun took his younger brother and sister to feed cattle and sheep, play pig dishes, pull grass, cook rice, brush the pot, wash the dishes, do all the work he can do, and learn to do the work he can't do. Although Shun treated the old man and his wife attentively, he was often beaten and scolded. Shun grew up in illness, hatred, beating and scolding. He was still filial to his parents, but his stepmother rennu tried to drive him away. He framed and abused Shun for many times, then provoked the old man to get angry, and finally drove Shun out of the house.

Shun, who could not return home, went to Lishan Guishui to build a hut to live in and began to burn wasteland. At the beginning, Shun filled his hunger with wild fruits. He worked at sunrise and rested at sunset. Later, there was the miracle of "farming like a bird". Said Shun one day in the field reclamation, tired in the field rest. All of a sudden, I heard the snort of "Puchi, Puchi". When I looked up, I saw an elephant walking from the opposite mountain to Lishan step by step, until he reached the land reclamation area of Shun. He rolled up a huge and sharp stone with his nose and began to dig the ground hard. The elephant force is infinite. It planed a large area of land in less than an hour. Then Xiang went to Lishan every day to help Shun dig the land. Over time, Shun established a relationship with the elephant and began to train the elephant to plough the land.

With the help of elephants, Shun cultivated more land. After planting crops, the field was overgrown with weeds. A man was too busy to come over, and he was worried about himself. Groups of birds appeared in the field, jumping to help peck away the weeds and pests. The story of the Xiang Gang's farming and the bird Gang's cultivation in Shunli mountain has become an eternal story.
