Erquan Academy was built in 1516 and has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Wuxi City. Judging from the remains of Haitian stone house and tingsongfang Academy in Huishan, the scope of Erquan Academy was very large at that time.

"If you want to open the stone gate, you have to wait for Shao Baolai." This is a proverb we Wuxi people are familiar with. Yes, Mr. Erquan Shao Bao is very lucky. I didn't expect that his Academy was restored and opened after more than 400 years of dust. But now the academy has not heard the sound of reading, only the old ginkgo tree standing in the courtyard and those precious inscriptions still seem to tell people the story of yesterday.

Current situation of Academies

According to historical records, there were 15 scenes such as Haitian Pavilion, transcendent hall and dianyi terrace. Shao Bao has been lecturing here for 11 years, teaching students "morality is the most important, followed by fame." After his death, Shao Bao changed his ancestral hall to offer sacrifices to him. It was destroyed and built many times in history. The last restoration was in the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, but it was beyond recognition.

In this beautiful spring, Magnolia in full bloom, when you walk into this simple academy, you will smell the fragrance, it is difficult to say whether it is the fragrance of flowers or books. Walk into the hall, walk through the scholar's Academy and see the statue of Shao Bao standing in the high hall from a distance. You can't help but feel awed. Those old houses remind you of the past and miss your childhood. Time flows through the eaves, and the swallow whispers among the beams. The inscriptions scattered in the halls, walls, pavilions and corridors, the true grass, the official seal, the iron hook and the silver stroke, record the deeds of the sages, the rise and fall of the Academy, the scenery of Huishan, depict the remains of the sages and the difficult eight diagrams. From these inscriptions, we can appreciate the grace of the sages, experience the power of culture, and even hear the footsteps of the ancients Endless history, endless charm. In the dark, the gurgling flowing spring pours down in the stream and turns into the sound of gold and stone. When visitors come here to explore the ancient, they will have endless aftertaste, just as Shao Bao said: "the stream stone does not follow the dragon, but the cloud and the crane return."
