Huguojiao Temple
Located at 215 Qinghe Road, Jiading, Shanghai, huguojiao temple, together with Nanxiang temple, Wuxing temple, Fangtai temple and Anting Bodhi temple in chiwu period of the Three Kingdoms, is one of the earliest Buddhist temples in Jiading and Shanghai.
The huguojiao temple was built in the reign of Liang Tianjian (503-519). It has a long history, a large scale, and has always been popular. Many of the monks in the temple are not only proficient in Buddhism, but also advocate Confucianism, and there are many masters of poetry. It was also the reading place of Huang Chunyao, the leader of the anti Qing Dynasty in Jiading. The prosperity of ancient Huguo Temple promoted the development of Ximen street and Jiading ancient town. After the destruction of the Anti Japanese War and the cultural revolution movement, the restoration of the Huguo temple with a history of more than 1500 years is now in progress.
