Shi Chuanxiang Memorial Hall

The memorial is located in the county seat of Qihe County (Yancheng), Shandong Province, covering an area of 20000 square meters and a construction area of 1600 square meters. The octagonal layout of the building symbolizes Shi Chuanxiang's spirit of "prefer one person to be dirty in exchange for ten thousand families to be clean". It adopts the form of Shandong folk houses with symmetrical hard mountains and gray tiles and white walls to express Shi Chuanxiang's simple life.

Shi Chuanxiang (1915-1975) was born in Dahu village, Zhaoguan Town, Qihe County, Shandong Province. In 1959, he was elected as a national labor model and received by state president Liu Shaoqi and other leaders; in 1964, he was elected as a deputy to the third National People's Congress; in 1966, he was elected as the deputy head of the Beijing National Day ceremony group and received by Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai. Four sides of the base and three layers of flower beds fall down, which means four seasons and twelve months, reflecting Shi Chuanxiang's brave, upright, hardworking and selfless character. The memorial hall was approved by the general office of the CPC Central Committee at that time. Li Ruihuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, inscribed its name and officially opened on September 9, 2000.
