Haibei Catholic Church has a long history. In 1902, French priest Lu Ping came here to preach, and in 1909, he built a cathedral with European architectural style, which can accommodate 3000 people. From then on, Haibei was named "the great Catholic Church", which is famous at home and abroad.

During the cultural revolution, the cathedral was demolished. In 1980, in order to implement the party's religious policy, Haibei town government raised 120000 yuan to build a medium-sized church with an area of 264 square meters and a capacity of 800 people. However, due to the small size of the church, it is difficult to meet the needs of religious people to carry out religious activities. Haibei town government and Catholic Church, with the help of relevant departments at a higher level, extensively attracted investment and 2.8 million yuan from South Korea. The town government invested 350000 yuan by allocating land and reducing planning fees, and began to prepare for the construction of a new church. During the construction process, the church was strongly supported by the provincial and local religious authorities, the municipal Party committee, the municipal government, relevant departments and people from all walks of life, so as to ensure the smooth reconstruction of the new church. The new church was designed by Suihua Great Wall Design Institute and constructed by hailun Jianlian company. The ground was broken on June 18, 1999 and completed on September 18, 2000. The new church covers an area of 5528 square meters, with a construction area of 2488 square meters. The highest point of the bell tower is 46.4 meters. There are cathedrals, chapels, offices, conference rooms, rest rooms, etc. in the church, the indoor facilities are complete, and central heating is adopted.
