architectural composition

The museum is reconstructed from the site of the former Qingming water hose factory on Dayao Road, with a total exhibition area of about 3000 square meters. The exhibition hall of "history of Wuxi brick and tile" on the first floor displays all kinds of brick products produced by Wuxi, including City brick, square brick, tomb brick, etc. On the second floor are displayed imitations of ancient bricks and tiles unearthed in China, objects collected from various places and modern brick making machinery models, reflecting the historical evolution of Chinese bricks and tiles. There is a corridor on the second floor of the museum exhibition hall, which is connected with the two floors on one side of the wharf. After the ancient Yunhe River tourism is opened, tourists can visit the museum from both land and water. It is understood that there are 108 ancient kiln sites on Dayao Road, more than a dozen of which are well preserved, and there are three old kiln sites on the back of the museum. The museum selected some ancient kiln sites for the main and section display, combined with visitors' interactive experience of brick and tile production process, to form an intuitive and shocking display group of ancient sites.

Development history

Dayaolu ancient kiln group site on the Bank of Wuxi ancient Yunhe river was an important brick and tile production and trade base in the south of the Yangtze River in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Today, at the intersection of the ancient canal and bodu port, Wuxi kiln group Ruins Museum highlights the once prosperous "brick and tile culture" along the canal.
