Pengxi White Pagoda, built in 1204, is one of the buildings of Jiufeng temple. According to the history of Chinese Architecture (written by Liang Sicheng), "the white pagoda on the left side of the main hall soars in the air, 13 levels high, very steep."

Layout structure

Pengxi White Pagoda, located in Baita street, Chicheng Town, Pengxi County, sits from west to East. It is a Square Pavilion style brick Pagoda with white body, 13 floors in total, 36 meters in height, and 8.2 meters in length on the side of xumizuo platform.

Each layer of the tower is a four column three room wood like structure, and there are stone ladders winding to the top. According to historical records, Jiufeng temple has been destroyed many times since it was built in the Song Dynasty, except for the white pagoda. The Pengxi white pagoda has been built for more than 800 years, only the eaves of each floor are occasionally damaged, which fully reflects the level of traditional Chinese architectural technology. Pengxi white pagoda is a collection of architectural art and religious culture, with rich historical information and profound cultural connotation.

Pengxi white pagoda was declared as a provincial cultural relic protection unit by Sichuan Provincial People's Government in December 2002, and its protection scope was announced by Sichuan Provincial People's Government in November 2004: "to the north of Linhe Fort ridge of Baita street in front of Wannian stage; to the south of Pilu hall and the fort ridge behind the monk's house; to the west of the fort ridge of Baita near the Forestry Bureau; to the east of Pilu hall and Daxiong hall, one meter away from Dishui."

Cultural relics protection

In 2006, the State Council announced the Pengxi white pagoda as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
